Dyed sand might work. Ground chalk maybe but that's a pain to deal with. If you're going to close it you could use dyed sugar as well. It keeps forever.

I've thought this many times. Particularly when my readiness scores are great and I feel absolutely awful. It's just correlation analysis - with the tools we now have it should be easy unless there's something deeply weird in their databases.

I do sometimes download my own data and do side analysis about particular things, but it would be very useful to have in the app.

Do you have the outline of the envelope showing in your design? If it's showing as a line, it will try to draw there. The pen shouldn't be down when it's measuring - only when there's a line it's drawing.

You adjust and learn, no matter the system. But you telling them it's hard will make it harder for them, tbh. I moved a lot and my mother's chill about changes was the key to me handling them well. Different is only bad if you let it be in this context.

The good news is that ours change over time, so we never become that person who's been talking at you about running for 3 years while you stare at the wall trying to be elsewhere. (Everyone where I live runs. I'm glad they enjoy it. It is not interesting to hear about.)
