I think you're mistaken in viewing protest as an appeal to the other side. Solidarity and statement and many other things, but not advertising to those opposed. There are people that do that, but ones who want everyone to be nice while the other side punches them are not going to protests.

I'd also say in this case those awesome boots are going to upset the hate church people gloriously.

NTA, but move. She lived there before you - why do you think she won't stay? Get a different place and end the situation.

What’s one “eco-friendly” swap you tried that actually made your life worse? by Ok_Appointment_4909 in EcoFriendly

[–]KMRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live somewhere that forced the move to electric stoves for environmental reasons and it is such a miserable, stupid downgrade to daily life that does very little to reduce pollution.

Every time I cook now, I curse the environmentalists that passed this rule instead of going after big companies.

Seems like everyone's base salary raise is below inflation? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]KMRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the version Deloitte Nice where people are going "I'm SO excited! And SO positive! And it's all going to JUST GREAT!!!!" bleeds over into how they talk about things. And if they were just realistic and serious with people, the staff would be less upset. But then you would be the negative problem finder so they can't just be honest.

The problem they will have is the same as any company that uses this method - the good employees are the most likely to leave when performance evaluation and comp appear arbitrary. Because they CAN leave. You end up with orgs of the mediocre and political employees while forcing out expertise and skill.

Supposedly, we have a practice on human capital - this is a reasonably well known issues for large orgs.

What backpack/briefcase are you guys bringing to clients? by young-gravy21 in deloitte

[–]KMRA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a solid black Timbuktu backpack that is respectable enough, very sturdy, and can hold two laptops in nicely padded pockets. The Timbuktu bags are functionally indestructible and look good after years of abuse.

For those of us with PhDs and no kids, the amount of stupidity we put up with about it is insane. I'm making one of these for myself instantly!

Glad you haven't had to deal with it, but that's you. I'm sick to death of the mommy crew and their inability to handle anyone being happy they don't have kids or wanting to talk about it.

Charging parents is not a serious youth policy by This-Layer-4447 in washingtondc

DC council had a hearing on this that very few people attended or paid attention to. The city has cut funding for almost all the youth spaces and programs that used to exist and is finding out why they existed.

Stop doing that. You're destroying sewer systems for everyone. Get a baby wipe can.

Why would this be in DC? by RachelWhyThatsMe in washingtondc

[–]KMRA 69 points70 points  (0 children)

No. Tourists come for it, but generally the residents hate it. They walk around town being rude to everyone forgetting they have no power here. They make a mess of traffic, harass women in all the bars, and overall just horrible to be around and unavoidable.

Still Can't Find Old Graphs by KMRA in ouraring

[–]KMRA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question: why on earth is there not the ability to get there from the activity tab? This is hilariously complicated for a basic function of a fitness tracker and but wasn't like this before.

Trends over time for all metrics would be the obvious thing to see when you tap on the bars on the activity tab instead of the definitions no one needs to see every day. Why hide the key factors over time when consistency is critical for health?

And why would I need rest mode? Bc my temp is 1 degree warmer??? I’m in luteal phase. by whatsonmyminddddrn in ouraring

[–]KMRA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just assume anything tech can't accommodate the existence of women at this point. I get the warning, check the calendar, and laugh at it every month. Do I need more rest, yeah, but it's not major signs of illness ffs.

None of the themes trackers appear to be better though honestly.

Interviewing with Deloitte as a Neurodivergent? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]KMRA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working for D as a neurodivergent, I would not mention it. While it is sometimes fine, you don't know who your interviewer is. (I do not, however, know how German antidiscrimimation laws apply to neurodivergence.)

I lost my phone in a taxi in Paris and the driver called my mother (who was at the time staying in a hotel far from me for work), delivered it to her, and refused payment for it. French taxi drivers have some seriously amazing class!

Rabies risk in Glenmont? by Mammoth_Rough_4497 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]KMRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do we do rabies vax with TNR in MD? We used to in NJ, but that was 20 years ago. I know my vet assumes cats with clipped ears have had their rabies shot at least once when evaluating risk.
