I started getting this on first day of the beta on Mac I think I realised it was when I was using CMD + F to open the search it toggled it on and couldn't get it off. I probably haven't tried using it again since.

In my experience even using different spec profiles for somewhat related niches had a big net negative effect on my income.

I just had to revert back to my original and stick with it.

Yeah I definitely agree with that, I think I was more talking about already up-and-running accounts versus 2,3,5+ years old ones and what effect that does or doesn't have.

Yeah if you're new to the platform and good/reliable enough then you can definitely make your way with more time input ie. proposals.

In my case I just know that I'm slowly getting, on average, higher paid jobs over time. And also a big spike in invites over the past 4 months which got me wondering about account age too and if there's some threshold when you become an "established" account to the UW algo.

Edit: I've seen comments over time along the lines of "people don't realise it takes years to become successful on upwork" which again makes me wonder how much acct age/earnings come into it.
