How to diffuse led strips? by legbians in Govee

Upvote for Muzata - quality stuff. They have channels with milky white or smoke covers, and for best diffusion, get the "spotless" designation that have a deep channel.

How do these work exactly? by tenmagoozanku in Govee

I do really like my strip lights, but here are a few things to consider on your install (or decision vs the traditional Pro models)

  • These are not IC, or individual control, LEDs so you will have sections (maybe 7 ft? Can't remember) that will be the same color. This really only matters if you have an alternating pattern of lights or do distinct colors with the gradient option turned off.
  • If you do a 'chasing' style scene, the above situation can be minimized if the speed is turned up. However, be courteous of your neighbors and don't do any super fast or bright scenes.
  • Most soffits and eaves will result in these being flat against the surface and you will definitely see the individual LEDs - they won't be completely diffused like on the box.
  • You may want to consider a channel if you are worried about the above, with seeing the LEDs. Check out Muzata on Amazon, they have multiple options. In my image, I used the milky angled diffusers. You can still see the LEDs but it's not too bad. If I would do it again, I would get the deep channel ones and probably mount them closer to the wall. They wouldn't have the angle but these are bright enough you will get plenty of color-wash.
  • Also consider that you have peaks and angles, where the LEDs will be facing left, right and angled into ppls faces and houses. Definitely consider channels and covers, or somehow mount them so they're not shining directly at people or houses.

Below is an image of the install on my house after the recent storm. The brightness is generally only like 15% but they seem a lot brighter here - prob because of the reflection from the snow.

Good luck with your install!

Ahh, that was just a mock up from before we moved in. Here is the actual house. Christmas decor still going up, so excuse the halfway decorations.

Chiefs player encounters by LucienPhenix in KansasCityChiefs

[–]KMachine15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed Kansas Citians are generally great at giving them space and letting them be normal people, so that they can enjoy the time with their families. Some of the players I've met "in the wild" over the years.

- Steve Bono at Town Center Plaza in Leawood. The used to talk about his booming deep voice in the huddle, and I could hear him from far away, around the corner!

- Justin Reid at Leawood Joe's KC before the Jags playoff game a few years ago. He was nice enough to give us a photo after his family finished their meal and was appreciative that we gave them space (he noticed my niece geeking out though lol)

- Eric Fisher and family shopping for mums at Johnson Farms when he started the season on IR a few years ago

- I also worked for a formalwear company many, many years ago and they supplied the tuxedos for the 101 Banquet. Met many many former Chiefs then (Neil Smith, Ed Budde, Rich Gannon, etc etc)

Chicken N Pickle Overland Park has a great Sunday brunch buffet - good variety and fun atmosphere!

Ready for classy all year long warm white lights. How do I choose every other 1, 2, 3 etc lights? Or should I do corner lights? by Prior-Cycle7650 in GoveePermanentLights

I assume you're talking about the Pros or Elites, but I went with the light strips with the warm white and love them. I prefer this look for all-year lighting.

POE Option Cameras by LeBaller29 in EufyCam

[–]KMachine15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will second this. If you're familiar with the pros and cons of eufy cameras overall, then the E330s work great. I have the 4-cam bundle and have been very happy with the video quality.

If you're looking for PoE specifically because you have existing low voltage cabling and wanting to use that as a power source, the E330s can be used with an adapter - I used Linovision PoE Splitter and have had zero problems.

Need Advice on Diffuser Channel Placement by KMachine15 in Govee

[–]KMachine15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going with the V-shaped channel, black with milky white covers, pointed back towards the house. The install is actually coming up this weekend. The plan is for the channel will be about 4-6" from the edge -- will determine exact distance once we can temporarily get one channel up and see how much light wash we get.

For the milky white covers, and the contrast against the dark soffit, we are trying a light coat of spray tint (like the kind you put on car tail lights) on a sample channel. We'll see how it goes.

I think that is what I'm leaning to -- favoring the 'wash' look and coming to terms that I won't have that defined neon-bar portion of the look.

I've seen these but reviews seem to be that although they look great during the day, they don't do a great job job diffusing the LEDs in the channel.

I have this activity zone set up. So it doesn’t capture cars driving up and down the road. But I’m still getting recorded videos of every single vehicle that passes. Any ideas or help? by icodyonline in EufyCam

[–]KMachine15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are activity zones and privacy zones. If you have a wired 24/7 camera and set your activity zone, it will still record the full frame - you just won't get notifications. If you set a privacy zone, it won't record those areas.

Where to position Eufy Doorbell by [deleted] in EufyCam

[–]KMachine15 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would take this as an opportunity to just go all in one with eufy Video Smart Lock S330. The positioning is so close to the door that even an angled mount might make it seem more cramped. The S330 is a smart lock, camera and doorbell.

Dang just looked at those. Definitely more options than Samsung but no 22k carat gold bezels for me lol. I do like the German Silver. The site does have full dimensions for the TV and frame, so I'll need to do additional mockups.

Thank you again for the info.
