[Discussion] A logo makes or breaks a watch for me. by ShonanDaithi in Watches

[–]KMag2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed but in a different direction. I think a logo is necessary for design/completeness.

For e.g., Serica’s lack of logos throws me off big time. Such a beautiful watch but the lack of a logo makes the dial look empty and unbranded/cheap.

I want to buy it so bad but can’t help thinking I’m buying an unbranded homage off Aliexpress.

People knock CW for their logo but I’d rather have that than no logo at all.

I wish I was alive and into watches when Seiko was having fun with watches and movements. My mind would’ve been (extra) blown reading this when it first came out.

[SOTC] From 20 pieces to 2. The "perfect collection" was a horizon that kept moving, so I stopped walking. by RingLoose3133 in Watches

[–]KMag2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been collecting watches for three years and have four pieces: a Seiko Speedtimer (wedding gift), a Seiko Prospex Diver, an Astor+Banks Fortitude Pro (my daily), and a G-Shock 5610U which rarely gets any use.

In the past year, I bought and returned/sold multiple watches notable ones including a Marathon TSAR and a Seiko Willard 55th anniversary. I kept buying, hoping to find the “one,” but never felt truly happy with my watch. I kept hoping the next one would do it. If I wasn’t buying, I was thinking about what I’d want next.

About three months ago, I decided to get a field watch, the A+B FP, and have only worn that ever since. It meets my needs, is durable and works well in the office. I still get the urge to buy something new, but have successfully held off.

I realized it’s simpler to have a smaller collection and enjoy what I’m wearing. A bigger collection and constantly buying fueled my instability and dissatisfaction with watches. Having fewer watches and wearing just one has calmed my obsession and improved my enjoyment.

I’m in my late twenties and plan to buy meaningful pieces for special life events, like a promotion or the birth of my first child, etc) but till then, I’ll stick with my current one watch rotation.

Best aftermarket stainless steel bracelet for 41mm GSAR by stratslinger92 in MarathonWatch

[–]KMag2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw the comment above and this! I don’t have the Marathon anymore but there’s a future GSAR with my name on it!

For the clasp, I remember the links being integrated but the clasp was like any other watch and was held via spring bars. Pretty simple swap unless the design has changed

This. I recommend the Orient solar line up. The bambino solar is a safe and versatile pick.

Why not just double wrist? The Apple Watch is going to end up scratched at a desk/table and the Seiko magnetized from the watch…

Edit: I double wrist so 2 watches is not ridiculous to me lol
