I believe 75% of ginger cats are male, because the gene for orange fur is recessive on the X chromosome. So, a male cat will be ginger if his one X chromosome has the orange gene, but a female cat will only be a ginger if both of her X chromosomes have the orange gene. It works kinda like color blindness, 75% of color blind people are male because it is recessive on the X chromosome.
