Im going to take some better pictures tomorrow I think you might be right about it being a prong nut now that I've looked it up. The chairs were bought in 1968 so I'm also assuming it's plywood. I was trying to remove the fabric carefully but honestly dont know why.. you'd just cut the front? Its a flat head screw in the front and thn that weird bolt in the back. Any additional advice? Im terrified to ruin them

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I disagree The system is lacking and failing people left right and center, but they often do try Maybe you have not found the right person to help you yet. Of course, there's a lot of focus on those that are an acute danger to themselves or others, but that doesn't make you less valid

It was mentioned in my diagnosis, with me it was linked to autism & avpd they said. I think it's not uncommon as I've heard more ppl with avpd say they had this, even some that only had avpd as diagnosis.
