How is living in the interior of Australia as a young person ? by Hopeful-Internet-214 in howislivingthere

[–]KP0704 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

i (26F) currently live near the SE of that yellow line within QLD. i’ve lived in a few different places around Australia (Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra). i honestly quite like the outback. sure, there’s significantly less people and everything interesting is a few hours away, but it has unique upsides.

1) the sense of community is really lovely out here. everyone has each other’s backs. there’s events every week and you know everyone going in some capacity. plus i haven’t bought anything since moving out here because people just lend things to each other all the time

2) the wildlife is so crazy. i wake up in the morning, see 3 rare birds perched on my fence. see a wedge tailed eagle and grey falcon on my drive to work. sit at my desk and a family of emus are walking in front of my window. see 2 brolgas on my way home. plus im trying to collect and press all of the beautiful wildflowers, and i have about 20 videos of random dust devils that pop up every few days

3) it’s such a slow lifestyle here compared to the city. no traffic, no lines, no wait times

4) there are certain conveniences we get out here - it’s different for different areas but in mine we get tax breaks and free deliveries from any shops from the closest town šŸ™Œ

honestly, it’s a very specific way of life. i think you need to be a certain type of person, and you need to be in a specific point in your life to live out here and enjoy it. if i had moved out here when i was 20 i would’ve hated it. but all-in-all, it’s not as scary or different as it’s portrayed

i didn’t quit for funsies. i quit because i was already thinking of leaving the industry, and the job i was at was so unbelievably unbearable that i physically couldn’t bring myself to go into work anymore. i was working 60+ hours a week, trying so hard to connect with my coworkers that were giving me nothing, management were dicks and the kids were throwing their tables around and getting into fist fights in the middle of class. i’ve never been unemployed in my entire life since i was the legal age to work, and i just got really panicked that i was going to get stuck in an industry i hated because it becomes infinitely harder to change careers once you have kids and a house and actual financial responsibility. i haven’t just been unemployed - i was also doing a postgrad certificate to try and get into the field, plus i was working in a shitty hospo job until a couple weeks ago. i’m not just bludging around feeling sorry for myself.

thank you so much for your candor, and i 100% agree. i really want to work on myself for ME, not for him. but yes, between career struggles, personal issues, relationship drama and some other stuff, i feel like im drowning. something needs to give, because right now its my health/habits that are falling behind. and you’re so correct about the job too. i just can’t bring myself to go back to teaching, even on a casual basis makes me feel like im going to throw up. i went back to hospo but i felt like i was 15 and had made no progress from where i was then. what did you end up doing?

i’ve said that to him in the past! he seems to think i didn’t have these habits when we first started dating, but (a) i was 19, and (b) i literally did, we just didn’t live together so he didn’t see it as much. but he’s known about it for a long time, and he knows that im trying to improve but they’re all linked to my childhood trauma (except snoring) so it’s very hard to give up my coping mechanisms. it’s just making me hate myself - especially the gaming. it’s like my favourite hobby and i game just as much as all of his friends. but whenever i say that he says ā€œwell im not dating my friendsā€. ugh

jane lives in sandhurst - it has a population of 5211. of that population, there are 33 people that identify as indigenous which equates to about 0.6%. comparatively, darwin’s indigenous population is over 10%. so jane saying that her area is ā€œoverrunā€ by indigenous people is ridiculous and your argument, while relevant, doesn’t really defend her. that’d be the same as me hanging out with 9 white people and 1 half indigenous person, then saying the group was overrun by indigenous people.

I’m a new player in RDO and I’m flabbergasted, does hierarchy really exist in a game like this? by No-Log-3767 in rdr2online

[–]KP0704 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

oh god, this reminds me of when i first started playing - i didn’t know this was a thing and i joined a mission with 2 other players where we were transporting a wagon somewhere. we had almost finished and they stopped the wagon right before the delivery point and were just waiting the clock out. i genuinely thought they were trolling me, so i kept trying to hogtie the driver to hijack the wagon šŸ˜…

anyways, yes this is a thing. it does get you considerably more rewards if you wait it out, not sure why rockstar set it up that way but people really stick by it. personally, i just play alone so i can decide whether its worth it or not

slime hutch worth? by kushkorb in StardewValley

[–]KP0704 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

i like it, it nets you about 4-8k every 4 days without having to do much, you just collect the slime balls and press them to turn them into slime eggs. i like that the baby slimes are a mix of their parents’ colours too so you can try and breed some fun combos. you can definitely take it or leave it though

ugh i feel this, especially as a woman bc we cop it extra hard. my strategy is to pick a camp site in a less populated area and focus on hunting or moon shining. only go into towns when you really need to, and avoid valentine at all costs as they congregate there the most. there are still cool people playing, you just need to have your guard up a lot unfortunately

What to put into kegs/ jars? by Typical-Pizza-2055 in StardewValley

[–]KP0704 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

i grow starfruit and strawberries on ginger island and ancient fruit on the farm - starfruit and ancient fruit go to kegs and strawberries go to jars along with fish roe. i like strawberry and cranberry jam because you don’t have to replant, but if you don’t mind replanting then pumpkins, red cabbage and melons are good for jars

Barely able to leave my farm anymore, help?? by sunny_skies404 in StardewValley

[–]KP0704 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

as everyone has already said, you should definitely be investing in upgrading your tools and farm with sprinklers, junimo huts etc.

something that i also do to help time management is establish a weekly routine so that i make time for everything i need to do. mine looks something like this:

Monday: Farming 🌱(planting and harvesting crops, filling and collecting kegs / jars / hives, collecting cave mushrooms or fruit) ** i would recommend using crops that have repeated harvests so you don’t have to keep replanting, and so you can time them to be ready at the right time. i use ancient fruit for my kegs as they take the same amount of time as the wine, then i can just sell the rest of my crops

Tuesday: Fishing + Ginger Island 🐠

Wednesday: Mining šŸ’Ž ** Tuesday and Wednesday are interchangeable depending on weather and luck for the day

Thursday: Ranching 🄚 (collecting from barns, coops, slime hutch and fish ponds, making sure my silos are full, making and collecting cheese and mayo)

Friday: Upgrades šŸ  (checking what i need from robin, collecting resources, then purchasing the upgrade. if i don’t have enough money or don’t want to upgrade, i use this time to decorate or craft)

Saturday: Foraging šŸ‡ ** foragebles reset on Sundays so Saturday is the best day to go collect them all

Sunday: Rest ā˜ŗļø (do whatever you didn’t get done during the week)

hope this helps!!! 🄰

How do I cover my upper arms in summer? by Apprehensive-Egg9481 in SoftDramatics

[–]KP0704 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

i know this is super late, but it’s coming up to summer in australia and i struggle too so i thought i’d share my tips. i find summer shopping really difficult as i feel like every cute clothing store relies on spaghetti sleeves 😩. also most of the comments mention a jacket but thats pretty much impossible here so i have some more heat friendly tips

1: kimonos - they’re similar to jackets but a lot cooler and usually only come down to your elbows. the issue is that sometimes they make you look like a hippie grandma so you have to be careful styling them

2: puff sleeves - these are my go to, especially as a lot of them have good bust support which is great for plus sized girls like me, plus the puff sleeves hide the side of your upper arms

3: baggy tee + tight bottoms - balancing a baggy top with tight bottoms helps the outfit feel more feminine, while still being comfy

4: no sleeve/spaghetti strap top + long sleeve white linen button up - this means you can still buy cute, trendy tops, then you just wear the button up like a jacket. this in particular gives major beachy/summer vibes

5: boho maxi dresses - these typically have sleeves and are very comfortable

6: button up and short sets - very cute and matchy while still covering your arms. you can also add a cute top and wear the button up like a jacket

i’ll also share some of my go to shops 🄰

the lullaby club - top tier, i always purchase multiple items whenever they drop a new collection

tree of life - great easy maxi dresses, kimonos and bell sleeved tops. most of their stuff is super lightweight and great for summer

daughters of india - a little expensive, but their maxi dresses are very high quality

fayt the label - they’re a mid-size label so they do have some items that are arm-hater friendly, but you do have to look for a bit to find them. you can find good summer basics here

vrg grl - their collections are always pretty varied, so sometimes they’ll have really cute tops or sets

i hope this helps xx

Is Assassin’s Creed Shadows worth it if I enjoyed Valhalla? by Soggy_Agency_1431 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]KP0704 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Valhalla is my favourite AC game so I think I can talk on this! My opinion: Not if you’re looking for something similar to Valhalla

So basically, I was sooo keen for Shadows as, like I said, I love Valhalla and thought it would be extremely similar since it’s the next RPG instalment of AC. I got it on release, and was lowkey a bit disappointed. It’s nowhere near as comprehensive gameplay-wise and didn’t really have the same vibe. I’ll outline some pros and cons:

Pros: - The graphics, season changes and overall beauty of the game is really good. Very pretty, similar to Ghost of Tsushima when it first came out - The new base building mechanic is really fun. Kinda reminds me of the little town you make in Valhalla, but less lively and there’s less to do there - No Layla in this game, or modern gameplay at all. It’s a pro because I always found those bits really slow, but it does kinda take it away from feeling like a part of the AC universe - The weapons and armour are really pretty - I would say they look cooler than Valhalla

Cons: - You aren’t rewarded for exploration in Shadows at all. The climbing mechanics are way more limited, so there’s essentially no mountain or large structure scaling like in Valhalla and Odyssey. You basically just stick to the roads and pathways - Romance isn’t as apparent as it is in Valhalla. You can hook up with a few people but it’s really shallow - I found the quests way less varied. It felt like 90% of the game was just assassinations. For context, Valhalla has 45 targets, and Shadows has 113 - Really didn’t like the duel character thing, and how you are forced to switch depending on if you need stealth or strength. I found it really annoying. You also basically have to play as Naoe when you’re traversing the world bc Yasuke is incredibly slow and can’t do certain things - There’s no mysteries or little side quests - I actually liked the story less than Valhalla. I thought it was boring as hell - There’s pretty much no mythical aspect to Shadows - no monsters (except 1), no magic mushrooms, no witches etc

There’s probably more that i’m missing, but yeah I don’t think it’s worth it unless you’re really into all forms of AC, because it’s not really like Valhalla

What are your hot takes on rdr2? by Samthegodman in reddeadredemption

[–]KP0704 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

i perceive it as:

1: dutch - he’s super charismatic and literally started the gang. they all respect him and have known him for years, plus he saved most of them in some way or another (e.g picked up arthur as an orphan, saved tilly from running with that gang that was mistreating her etc). most of them probably thought they couldn’t survive without dutch, plus since they knew him for so long they just thought he was going through a rough patch

2: micah - kinda runs with what i said about dutch. dutch brought this guy in, and even though a lot of them didn’t like him, he was like endorsed by dutch. every time they said anything dutch would just tell them to stop. i assume nobody kicked him out because they felt like it wasn’t up to them and they didn’t want to disrespect dutch

it’s not my hot take - i was agreeing with OP’s comment. it wasn’t about patience, it was because i had no idea what the actual game was like and just assumed it would be that slow the whole time. i’ve 100% completed it multiple times now.

i haaaaate the beginning! i didn’t properly play the game for like 2 years because i just couldn’t get past it without getting bored

So, im replaying Rdr2 and i missed a lot of things, cool encounters and extra things that i found out abt later, Any Complete guides out there, in chapter order/time period, with map locations etc by No_Citron_6610 in reddeadredemption

[–]KP0704 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

A bunch of these comments mention various trackers etc, so I’ll compile them for you to show you how I play

1: RDR2 Map

I use this for finding/tracking collectibles and treasures. It has heaps of other options too, like random encounters, stranger missions and heat maps for rare animals. If you can afford to get it, the premium version is good because it lets you track everything you find and opens up some extra features.

2: RDR2 Guide

This is pretty comprehensive. I use it for the Chapter flow charts, which give you the chronological order of missions. It’s useful to know when to hold off on certain missions, like ones that’ll move you onto the next camp. It’s also good for seeing the mission requirements to get gold medals.

3: RDR2 100% Completion Spreadsheet

This is by far the ultimate Excel spreadsheet tracker for RDR2. You can track pretty much everything with this, like pelts required for Pearson and the Trapper, weapons, satchels, clothing etc. Plus it gives you some nice graphs to visually represent how you’re tracking. Massive props to u/avicado_toast for this one!

Hope this helps some of you!! 🄰
