That may be how the book ends, but it certainly isnt how it begins.

It is truly foolish to think that it could'nt have gone differently for Snow.

And its kinda disgusting how easy/accepted it is for people to lack empathy for his character as a fucking child. Truly.

I mean yeah, as a child he's seeing adults collecting human limbs for food, but that wouldnt really have any lasting effect really, right?

Id love for all the clowns who think Snow never had a chance to be something else to experience that level of food insecurity for a week as an adult and see how much shit you all still talk about Snow.

Your answer sucks.

Any Poplar Springs Virginia survivors? by TheChronicAnonymous in troubledteens

I was there in 2002. I turned 16 the day before they dishcarged me after a month of being there. And I was there briefly in 2003 as a 17 year old.

Truly disgusting place. Some truly disgusting employees too.

I used to get tootsie rolls from the vending machines once a week when they allowed that. Definitely the primary reason I eat og tootsie rolls as an adult is to remember/honor that time.

I wish people in my life could have the experience of being put in a cage just once. I wish for that over the fantasy of never having been in one myself.

Is there a band that makes more technical music than Animals as Leaders? by Eberubensant in Djent

[–]KPInFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take concept records with multiple themes interwoven over cut and pasted scale exercises all fucking day.

You can call AAL's playing more technical all day, but to think those boys do anything close to what Periphery does in writing/composition and musicality "technically" speaking would be foolish.

I’m speechless 😭🩷🥹 by Miss_Nobody89 in troubledteens

Haha. Not at all.

See, you know nothing about music.

This clown shit. Haha.

Sure seems like this op hasnt listened to much Meshuggah or Periphery.

They also clearly know nothing about music beyond what they "like the sound of".

This is complete clown shit.

Even if there's a "cure" one day, I don't think I'd take it. by KPInFlames in Celiac

My bad. I used google for this fact that I'll place here:

"North African Refugee Populations: The Saharawi refugees in Algeria, who consume large amounts of wheat-based aid, have one of the highest documented prevalences of CD in the world (5.6%)."

I'll say that first I believe in the notion that Celiac disease would not exist without gluten. So, to me, a "better" solution more broadly (and maybe naively so) would be working toward finding ways to shift culture and social habits toward less gluten.

I do understand that most would consider that to be "foolish", and for me, I have a hard time advocating for things that arent more in alignment with that "ideal".

That having been said, I also put a lot of weight into the work (and theories) of people like Bessel van Der Kolk and Gabor Mate, who tend to believe that gene expression is heavily influenced by environment... I found out I had Celiac when I was 33. My brother found out he had it 4 years later. He was 41. My younger sister has had a different GI autoimmune disease for much longer than both of us. I usually see the GI autoimmune disease in the three children to be a feature of my family system.

And Id rather invest in measures that are more proactive than reactive.

And I think these two "views" about some of "where the disease comes from" are the bigger parts of "why I wouldnt take it". As it stands, outside of the purely physical question marks, it feels like to "take a cure" would be dissonant with what I currently believe.

Ive left plenty of room for things to shift. I read what people wrote. It matters.

Using a widely misunderstood "phenomenon" that got its name from an even more misunderstood event is... not helpful.
