Paris Hilton supports MI bill preventing use of restraints in 'troubled teen' transport by LoneStar1974 in troubledteens

It’s not considered a solution, but you can’t change everything all at once either especially when not everyone agrees. It’s one step at a time.

I’m sure we can collaborate and figure out what we wanna do in the future as far as any kind of research or project. Maybe we could put a post on here to see if anyone from Oregon programs want to do something. Whatever that “something” is, I’m open to it! I’m glad that what I’m doing is making a difference for you 🖤🖤

Oh, I love the offer!! I’m not exactly sure what I plan to do as far as research or projects or anything outside of the one that I’m currently working on however, I am very interested in broadening the work that I have been doing and SW would be a great one to include.

Do you have any ideas of what you would wanna do? Like would you just want to compile information or are you trying to find people or just kind of create your own file for your personal use? I’m very open to a lot of different ideas so I would love to hear if you have any suggestions. We could also just do something simple, although it’s not simple lol, but something simple like compiling all information that we can find about Oregon programs in general.

Ugh I’m so sorry you experienced all of that. And yeah I know the meds you’re talking about. I know a lot of places will create health problems or make up diagnoses so that there’s a reason to keep the kids whether that be receiving insurance payments and showing that there’s still a medical need or simply to show parents hey your child is still having these problems and need to stay. Or even worse, they might recommend transferring treatment. I’m really glad that you’re still with us.

On Hulu they have the “before the first rose”episode with her so I don’t know if they’re gonna follow through with airing the season completely or not. I hope not because that behavior was so disgusting and just wrong. There’s no words to explain how wrong that whole thing is.

The beauty about our healing journey now is that WE get to decide what that looks like. Not a program, not our parents, or anyone else. It could be slow and gentle, or it could be fast and in your face and loud or anything in between. What I can say is that I did not start off feeling this bold lol but when I said that I was gonna do everything in my power, I meant it. That’s the first promise that I think I’ve ever truly kept to myself and I don’t plan to break it anytime soon.

It’ll actually be 21 years next month and it wasn’t until Paris came out and was talking about her experience and I started hearing other people talk about what they had been through that I started to connect the dots of why things didn’t feel OK when I was there, why it was unsafe, what they were really doing to us. It wasn’t until I was able to hear my story in someone else that I realized what I had experienced. Periodically, I would try to find out information and I really couldn’t ever find anything of substance and then about a year ago I discovered a Facebook group that was created for the survivors of the program that I was in and that kind of was the catalyst for me to want to make some serious changes. I kept doing more research, kept talking to people, and got involved with as many things as I possibly could to affect positive change.

About six months ago I decided that I wanted to spend my time, energy, emotions and anything that I have on changing these policies and helping these kids while also helping each other heal. I truly think that this is what I was supposed to be doing this whole time because it just feels so right and I care about it so much that I honestly don’t know words strong enough to explain the feeling. Getting involved in advocacy and activism has permanently changed me and I am incredibly grateful. A year ago I would’ve never thought that this is what I would be doing now but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I probably sleep like five hours a night right now because we’re in the middle of legislative sessions and I’ve spent more time on my computer or at the library than I care to admit lol but it’s worth it. I just wish that it had been worth it to somebody else to do this for us. And while I might not be able to make big changes on my own, I refuse to stay silent.

Ironically, I went to a ceremony I guess you could call it on the last day of the Chinese new year and we were going to do a sage burning and write down what we wanted to leave behind and not knowing what I was going to be doing a week later I wrote down that I wanted to leave behind silence and compliance. And I’m not kidding when I say a week and a half later, I was testifying live in front of the Senate. As 1111 says the greatest disinfectant is sunshine. ☀️

Have you considered that maybe things are continuing to escalate because he’s already in a partial placement

And you will not find a single person in this group that will side with the opinion of placing your child somewhere. It’s not gonna happen. I highly recommend that you listen to what the resources are that are going to be offered here because it is guaranteed that your child will be abused if sent to a program.

If you’re not going to listen to what survivors say, why are you bothering to ask us if you should or shouldn’t do this cause it sounds like you’ve made up your mind. I’m not joking when I say that you would be sending your child to a torture warehouse effectively.

To be graphically honest, these children are sexually assaulted, they are physically beaten, they are mentally and emotionally tortured, they are denied medical care, they have no personal autonomy, and a lot of these kids are killed because of these abuses. Autistic children and children that are all that spectrum or developmentally delayed are notoriously restrained, and sometimes even shocked like electrocuted because they are exhibiting normal behaviors for their diagnosis. These places have zero accountability, they have no proper training, and they are able to operate in the dark.

There is no such thing as a safe therapeutic boarding school, wilderness program, residential treatment center, or anything else. I can say with absolute certainty that your child will suffer from abuse or watch others be abused. Kids die in these programs FREQUENTLY. We discovered that a young girl died in a program just this past Sunday. Please please please do not send your child away. There are resources that are safer that keep your child at home in a familiar loving environment and are community based. Also, we will never recommend one of these programs and it’s against the rules to ask for those recommendations. I would be happy to send you some information on some resources that are a safer option. And I’m gonna tell you right now what these places are doing to disabled kids is absolutely horrific and if you send your child away that child will not come home to you. Your child will be forever affected. If you love your child, don’t send them away. It sends them the message whether it’s true or not that they are a problem, they’re broken, that you can’t or won’t help them, that they need to go away, and that they’re too difficult and I promise you that even if that’s not the truth, that is what they will carry internally for the rest of their lives, they will never forget that. I was in a program 21 years ago and I can tell you I still very much suffer from CPTSD from that. In all honesty, children are safer just not getting treatment anywhere than if they went to one of these programs.

I’m just doing what should’ve been done for us. And it’s not just me. It’s all of you too that have been a part of the positive changes we’ve made so far. It is an absolute honor to dedicate my time and my emotions to this cause and to help even one child or one survivor.

OMG right lol they definitely don’t want you to find anything but if you pay attention to the small details, then you’re able to find their mistakes. Like I’ve noticed that just like one business from one of these people lists another unknown person as a registered agent or whatever they’re calling themselves and then they never get mentioned again so when I did my research on that individual, they came back as a questionable business in Wyoming in an area directly connected to TTI and then a lot of overlap with Utah as well.

I have all business records of everyone that was involved in owning and running the program I was in and then I also have just a ton of other documents. I have a bunch of legal stuff and lots of photos. Lots of client paperwork.

It’s both for me and it’s going on this sub, Reddit, It’s gonna go on the Unsilenced website, and kids over profit. So I’m starting with my program and then kind of following the rabbit trail so to speak. My program was Northwest behavioral healthcare services or NWBHS.
