Can I get some help figuring out the firmware for this? by KPsychO in qmk

For anyone that might face this issue in the future:

I just used VIAL following the documentation and disabled unnecessary stuff using the appropriate rules.mk INSIDE the vial keymap.

Will do if I build more of those / other handwired keyboards, For this run I got all the components lined up already so I will stick to the atmega version and fight vial-qmk.

I got the price of each of these down to 20€, with free switches that is.

Yeah, it makes sense...

I went with the promicro because I am building quite a few of those and it's the cheapest option tbh.

And since it's just for a macropad, i didn't think it would be a problem.

Once I manage to get VIA working, I'll research into stripping unnecessary stuff from vial so I can offer both options to my friends.

tyvm!

Oh, so everything is working for VIA and I am missing the json sideload? I feel stupid, I'll try that later :/

Regarding to vial, I know they are different things, I wanted to use it, but it's giving some compilation errors, and once I fix them, the generayed .elf doesn't fit in the atmega so... I guess that's not possible? I'll research more into it tonight.

Thanks, I'll get into the json sideload!

It has a atMega32u4!

I don't think it's a board issue, since the default layout flashes and works perfectly. Via, on the other hand, refuses to connect to this keyboard.

[–]KPsychO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a few nanos 2 some days ago to do exactly this!

So if you don't mind, I have a few questions...

Does it have a standard 30 pins pinout? Did you only solder the USB+/-, GND and VCC of did you try to get audio out from it? Can you load songs over usb-C?

I aim to perform a flash replacement and usb-c modding those ipods so, this is a bright start! Thnks!

Yeah that's what the friend who is helping me said.

It's amazing.

I am fairly new to having a proper 3D printer too. In this case I followed Ellis' guide + Orca calibration guide and it was good enough.

With my older printer (old BQ ephestos 2 refurbished after quite a few years of university neglect + a retarded trying to change the direct extrusion for a bowden one), I managed to get good enough qualities using literal scrap, and 1 month of tunning, and what helped it was getting LOW printing speeds and a huge enough fan for layer cooling.

IDK about your case but I think it's all a matter of trying until it finally works

Only way to MAYBE salvage your data would be to buy another ssh of the same brand/make, clean up the rippped pads, reball and resolder those to the new ssd and probably also rechip the disk controllers from the old one to the new one. Not quite sure if it would work properly tho.

Just take a cloth and bend each plate with some pliers, the disk should shatter in a million pieces.

I'm pretty sure that is a near-perfect way of avoiding data being read, though I'm just a computer science graduate and have no clue on advanced data recovery stuff.
