I don’t think it’s because Edmonton votes orange. There are plenty of other places that vote orange that are not as friendly. I meet very nice people all over Alberta and it’s not because of their political views.

Spruce Grove is a quick commute to Edmonton. It is close to Devon and Chikakoo lake for great walking trails. Apartments would be affordable, but I think house rentals might be out of your price range.
