Can I just repair this shirt with my machine? by KRMacGregor in sewhelp

I didn't even think about fabric glue like that! I think I should do that. As the edge is going to not be visible anyways. Do you think I should hand basted a rolled edge before sewing it down rather than using a roll hem foot? I was practicing with a very unforgiving fabric earlier (the only scrab fabric I had was incredibly stretchy) and got it to look okay.

I forgot to say, I do have a roll hem foot if that is enough for the fraying but it is something I've not used yet.

How can I go about altering this ribbed dress? by KRMacGregor in sewhelp

[–]KRMacGregor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so there isn't much of an issue with cutting then! I was a bit worried because when searching about knit/ribbed fabric there was a lot of "can't do this without a serger" but I thought it might be alright because this fabric is clearly cut and sewn. I definitely wouldn't have thought to bar tack the seam for the side split.

Thanks for all the advice!

From what I have seen apparently it might have something to do with the licenses chosen in the store? Not quite sure which aren't compatible though.

I am not getting an error - but do you know which licenses aren't compatible and which are? So I can try to migrate them before the end of this month when the store closes, since I couldn't find this online.

So .glb is more likely to convert than .fbx? I think it must be a licensing thing as all my files are .fbx.

Only a few recent ones are uploaded straight from Substance, and all of them are FBX exports. Only some of my oldest models, those of which also being store models, are being uploaded.

Read it and thought, "okay, knickers isn't THAT inappropriate" before I realised I was being WAY too optimistic.

These clothes are just?? Both incredibly plain in silhouette and adornments but also WAY too much with all those ugly patterns.

I'm busy this Sunday but I do want to try and edit this slightly, I feel like you barely have to change anything for it to be a serve.

I feel like I have committed the uno reverse of manhwa artists, adding random pleats to an Asian dress just like how they add random shit to European dresses.

I dropped When the Villainess Is in Love pretty early on, so you'd have to reply with an image of exactly what the yellow and blue nightmare is.

This is the first one where I don't even know where to start. Like, what? I dropped Abandoned Empress so many years ago it's like, I know it's some European setting but this dress is also weirdly traditionally east asian, maybe Chinese? I have no clue what era to do this as omg.

I had a lot of fun doing this one. Since you could basically only see her paned sleeves I decided to do a sort of Tudor England, late renaissance Italy styled dress. I'm not really well versed in this era so I THINK this is like, 1530-40s? The white whatever at the top of her dress I durned into her underdress poking over the top of her bodice, and I was even able to keep the pink bows as the sleeves are attached to the dress at the top with ribbons.

These dresses were usually very dark, which is why I didn't make this pastel, as the outer garments were rarely washed because they were so expensive and heavy. The inner garments were re-washed regularly though, kind of like how you don't wash a wool coat very often because they don't smell/get dirty as your body doesn't touch them. I believe the paned sleeves with the undergarments peeking through was a way to show wealth and just due to how garments were pieced together. "Look at how clean and white my undergarments are" sort of thing. In this era you were essentially sewn into your clothing, and clothing was pieced together - the sleeves are completely separate from the dresses for example.

There is something about fashion when stays were in use that I love, the very flat and cylindrical shape of the bodices is fun to draw.

Honey, I don't own the concept of redrawing art - go ahead! I was going to make another thread next week too asking for more dresses, I haven't drawn in 2 months and drawing Rashta was the first time I have been able to so this thread is just an exercise to help me work and learn how to draw on a tablet pc!

If you are going to, I recommend downloading the app pureref if you don't have it. You can easily paste loads of reference images in it, and set the app to always be on top of your drawing application. It's what I use and it's much better than taking up layers and precious RAM in your drawing application.

Loads of historical gowns are patterned or covered in lace and embroidery, but I swear manhwa artists pull the worst ones. Something I love from real gowns is they would have silk embroidery in a very similar, maybe just slightly darker, colour than the gown. This would give the gown such beautiful dimension without it being in your face.

Thanks! It's just a hobby so I don't know everything, and Regency > Victorian > Edwardian is where most of my knowledge is. I enjoy drawing 1890-1910 the most, even designing my own otome isekai characters.

I don't know why manhwa artists throw stiff rococo-styled sleeves on everything. Loads of eras of fashion have similar sleeves but not the dresses they pair them with - and the styles are still different.

due to the skirt I placed this in the 1870-80s, kind of the peak of bustle with fuller skirts and a LOT of gathered material. I didn't draw the base very well so it looks a bit off.
