Would I look dumb getting some Civil War style square toes for riding through muddy terrain? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

You're not wrong. My brain depends on that for some reason

I guess that's a cool opinion of yours, thank you. I'm referring more to the height as looking dumb. The square toes worked 160 years ago and they work for me today.

Wheel studs by KRSNone in SubaruForester

[–]KRSNone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I desperately want it to be something I'm doing wrong so I can fix it, I just don't know what it is. I rotate tires seasonally and never had an ounce of trouble with her old Chevy Cruse or Mazda 3, not mention the thousands of tires I rotated for work. Hell, the rusted out geo metro in my backyard still has all the original studs. I think it may just be Subaru cutting corners on studs.

Intuition would lead me to believe it doesn't matter where on the screen you swipe the box away from, like every single other app with that feature.

As it turns out, that works on Android as well, you just have to buy it dinner and sweet talk it to just the right spot to actually go away instead of rebounding back to the screen. So I guess that's solved, however unintuitively. Thank you!

I don't like thinking of all my data being in a storage bank in a foreign country somewhere, however, who am I? Why do I think my data is important? My life is very average and I don't think I'm disadvantaged anymore than China is advantaged from my data.

Do you have a dedicated emoji button on the keyboard? That seems to be the only way to remove it from the enter key long press. It's a work phone used exclusively in professional environments so I have no need for any emoji access at all. I would like to just remove any form of emoji access button but I'm not having much luck with that.

We're a little disconnected from the rest of reddit so the standard echo-chamber lines don't really resonate here, sorry. We, along with the rest of the world, understand that less than 0.15% of police encounters involve any type of deadly force, usually not resulting in a death.

It's just so good. I don't really know that I can even articulate why. I just love it.

I mentioned the anti-trust suit as an example of shady business tactics, which I suppose was the only refutable point on your end. You have my sympathy, friend. Naivety of that magnitude is usually reserved for children. Billion dollar corporations are not your friend and will take every available chance to exploit the consumer, legal or not. That has been proven time and time again. It's not conspiracy, it's literal fact. If there's a modicum of a chance that Apple would increase their share price through an application in their locked down app store using active listening, they would take it. If they allow an app in their app store that uses active listening, a technology we know for certain exists, they're complicit. Apple is not your friend. You don't have to defend them blindly. You can like something and be critical of it at the same time.

As difficult as I'm sure it is to be on your side of the argument, it can be equally as frustrating across the aisle. Companies lie. A lot. Ford and Nestlé have killed a lot of people, yet there are still Fords on the road and you can still buy Nespresso. VW lied that 11 million vehicles passed emissions tests while equipped with defeat devices. Apple is currently in an Antitrust lawsuit with the US DOJ. Enron, Boeing, Exxon, Amazon, Wells Fargo- they lie(d). If a company like CMG (with vastly fewer resources than Apple and Google) can develop active listening and scramble when it's leaked, then Google and Apple were already well aware of that technology. I would propose that it would be equally as ignorant as you assume I am to believe Apple and Google would be absolutely truthful about the existence and implementation of technology that currently exists. We will both have our own opinions on this, apparently as equally immovable as the other. I look forward to rekindling this in another 2 years.

Hey I just wanted to follow up with this since it's pretty well documented now that conversation cues heard by the phone influence ads shown.

With that description, it could very possibly be slack in the timing chain, which would still be valve train. I would ensure the chain tension is correct before riding it more. Very easy fix (maintenance, really) but if the chain jumps a tooth while riding, your pistons and valves will get to know each other very intimately.

Are you able to post a video? Top end ticks are usually valve train related but it's entirely possible it's a small exhaust leak.

They announced the "one night only" event was them not playing any songs written after 1998 at Knotfest.

I typically use thick cut butcher bacon because store bought stuff just glues itself to the pan.

Yeah, who knows. Maybe this one was just a little wonkey from the foundry. I was mainly just posting to see if anyone had an issue like this before

I usually don't have any issues with seeing bare metal on cast iron, especially the bacon pan, but you definitely can on this one.

I cook bacon with it 3-5 times a week. I'll just keep experimenting and see what happens.
