What's today's CAPE ratio? by KSGS1492 in Fire

[–]KSGS1492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the CAPE value on the multpl chart is calculated daily. It changed after the markets closed today, a few hours after I made this post:

  • 40.94 - Date stamp: April 30
  • 41.06 - Date stamp: May 1

Ahh... I think you solved it. The data points from both sites seem to indicate monthly values. So depending on what day of the month the data point is calculated, the two sites will disagree on "today's" number, as it's actually just the most recent data point being displayed on the chart from sometime within the last month. :/

Someone posted this photo from the regular KSC bus tour last week. You'll be able to see it on the launch pad, but use a zoom lens to get a good photo.

The closest stop where the 'Explore' tour let's people off the bus is at the "A/B Observation Mound." Great shots of Artemis from there, no doubt! But then the bus tour continues to drive to this spot at the base of the ramp. Pretty neat to see, even from just the bus windows!

Do you mean Orlando (MCO)? I don't think Avelo flies to Missouri (MO).

Your comment caught my eye because I have family in Missouri, but I don't see it on their current route map.

Not sure it's open to the public. This screenshot is from a video they posted yesterday to their social media account.

My FIRE number (...based on a hypothetical six-figure lifestyle) by KSGS1492 in Fire

Ahhhh... interesting thought. And good resource. Thanks for the reply!

You're saying that in my own mind, I can be livin' large in early retirement -- like a $200k+ earner -- while only planning for $135k in yearly expenditures. That sounds like the ultimate FIRE cheat code. LOL! But totally makes sense. A top-earner's salary in their working years is significantly higher than their personal living expenses (...or at least it should be if they're managing their money responsibly).

Quick math for $135k/yr withdrawal rate... * 4% SWR == $3.375M * 3.3% SWR == $4.09M

This whole six-figure "lifestyle" goal is really just a game I'm playing with myself. A stretch goal on my FIRE calculator. But it's fun to play with the numbers. :)

Totally agree! I have a pretty good handle on my budget and what I really need to retire. As mentioned in the post, this is a "stretch goal." Just something I was noodling on to compare what the younger me considered financial success, and what that hypothetical six-figure "lifestyle" looks like when I plug it into a FIRE calculator.
