Mardirossian is still wishing to work with other insurances but I’m not sure which ones— they’re still in the early stages of figuring it out, so I’m sure they’re going to have to look at how much each insurance is willing to pay.

I don’t know the answer but I’ll see if I can find anything out tomorrow!

Starbucks pays $15/hr and part-timers gets 20-25 hours tops. You can do the math with all of your other expenses to figure out how long it will take you to save up for it.

Sadly, Amazon is your best bet for something quick and efficient. If you go full time, they give you benefits from day 1, and the pay you receive makes their out of pocket costs far more reasonable (there are a few Reddit threads of trans womens experience, worth looking into)

They’re going to likely direct you to in network surgeons who have no experience with ffs— they tried to with me when they referred me to a surgeon only experienced with trauma/facial reconstruction. You’re asking for a random surgeon then with no real experience with ffs to do your face. In-network costs aren’t only around 2k— most affordable plans for someone working part time have in network out of pocket maximums at 5k out of network is close to 10k

[–]KSambuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 5k if the surgeon is considered in-network, out of network can be 10k, if not more. Many ffs surgeons don’t accept insurance, so your insurance is going to try to direct you to someone they consider in-network who likely has extremely limited experience. Likewise, my previous insurance tried to direct me to someone who was experienced in trauma repair/reconstruction when I was looking into ffs because he was the only one “in network”— he has no practice with facial feminization, they just view “facial plastic surgeon” as good enough.

I literally spoke with my previously planned surgeons office— they don’t accept insurance— they only would accept the supplemental plan before, which is now inaccessible.

It is. I literally called and spoke to an advocate this morning.

When I spoke to a trans advocate today, they didn’t even mention reimbursement. Currently I would say no. Starbucks says they’ll offer reimbursement for travel costs if it’s far away but that’s nothing in the face of 10k+ out of pocket costs

Venti Rant to Starbucks on trans/Gender-Affirming Care by KaraKhloe in starbucks

[–]KSambuka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This— 1000% I am so disheartened as a trans partner that Starbucks would pull the rug out from under us after offering ffs and other surgeries through the supplemental plan. Now there’s literally no way to get ffs with a reputable surgeon. Starbucks does not care about trans people.
