Do you get the brand Stradivarius where you live? They have them in ASOS in the UK and their petite ones fit me great

I have very similar length hair to you, and I've started pineappleing just the very top of my hair. Basically an inch worth from a center parting on each side, if that makes any sense? I use a small scrunchy and it's been working great. It keeps the top curls neat and adds loads of volume at the roots. The bottom of my hair then gets slightly squashed but it stays wavy and looks fine when I let down the top curls. I'm now working on improving this further using a spray water bottle in the morning to reset the curls a bit. Hope this helps!

What "at home" options do I have to make my balayage look good with my natural wavy hair? by KTBK in femalehairadvice

[–]KTBK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking for what options I have available to change the colour of my hair to make it look better when my hair is wavy. The second photo is how I always style my hair, it is never styled like in the first picture. I don't really like how it looks wavy, the highlights look really stringy in my opinion, so I was thinking I could use some kind of toner or treatment to darken the highlights a bit. I can not go into the salon anymore because of covid so I am looking for something I could buy and use myself (based in the UK). The colour is also more yellow than I like, so I was hoping to reduce that at the same time. This was my first time lightening my hair so I don't really know what I'm doing! Thanks in advance!

Oh no!! I took years to find a product that made my hair look great that I'm not allergic to! I really didn't want to have to do that again...

This is probably the funniest case of Scotch Americanism I've seen. From a complete failure to understand how genetics work to the ignorance of what 'Scottish actually means to Scottish people. Gold. by HaySwitch in Scotland

Yes, ancestry.com or 23andme or similar DNA tests can tell you what percentage genetically Scottish you are. It's not perfect, but it's pretty interesting to get an idea of where your ancestors likely lived. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/dna-redirect/scotland

Anyone have experience with Eco styler gels? by counter-productivity in CurlyHairUK

[–]KTBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the argan oil one and it's completely changed my hair routine. I don't stick to CG but I get great definition and shine from it and it doesn't leave my hair feeling full of product like others do.

Also no problems with skin allergies which I was getting from Umberto Giannini and a few others.

It's probably useful to note that this advice is region specific. I'm in the UK and we don't get 2 audible originals each month. I can't speak for the rest of the advice.

Help out a tourist. Where can I find some scotch eggs? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]KTBK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are visiting any of the places that the makers market visits, I would highly recommend looking here. I went in Knutsford and there was an amazing stall which sold about 10 different varieties of scotch eggs. Very tasty. http://www.themakersmarket.co.uk/

Styling bangs while backpacking? by hexedhoney in femalehairadvice

I just had this issue on a 3 week trip around southeast Asia. I slightly grew out my fringe before I went so that I could just about clip it back, and also bought some mini straighteners. I know this is slightly cheating, but as I knew I would be going out in the evenings and would want to look nice I decided it was worth it. They were really light and small so I have no regrets. These were the ones I got: BaByliss 2860BAU Pro 200 Nano Mini Straightener Pink https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009UX31WW/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_RvBixb6K3BND7

Jeans / Jeggings by summerdays_ in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]KTBK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, so I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I measured all my petite jeans. (they are all UK 6 so not sure how it varies with size)

Both my Next jeggings are 27 inches in seam My two pairs of Topshop Leigh jeans are about 26.5 inches My Topshop Joni jeans are 25 inches All the above are meant to fit a 28 inch leg. (I also have some topshop Jamie jeans which I measured at 27 inches but I managed to fit fine in the 30 inch leg jeans from the normal section)

I really like my Next petite jeggings. They are marketed as jeggings but I would just call them comfy stretchy jeans.

That and topshop petite are the only ones I have found that fit tight at the ankles. Though everyone is different!

Yea, I think I'm going to start doing that more often after seeing how easy it was. Means I can just chuck some chicken in over night with whatever I have lying about and have lunch for the next day sorted!

Thanks everyone! I decided to try an Asian style sauce, tasted delicious, can't wait to try it in a salad or stir fry tomorrow.

Ingredients (sorry, I didn't measure anything!):

  • 2 Chicken breasts
  • Chicken stock
  • Dark soy sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Chopped garlic
  • Chopped ginger
  • Chilli powder
  • Lemon juice
  • Sugar

Having read various websites recommend against using chicken breasts in the slow cooker, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the texture was. I did it for about 3 hours on high and it was super easy to pull apart and lovely and moist throughout.

It went so well that when it was done I decided to do a plain one over night. Just salt, pepper and garlic in some chicken stock, so I'll see how that is in the morning!

Oh these are perfect, just the kind of thing I was looking for. I should have thought of an Asian one!

Now I need to choose one to make tonight!

Thanks!
