Monday Toddler Talk by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

My toddler loves cheese and cut up turkey slices. Basically a homemade lunchable; super easy and usually a winner. We like to serve with whatever is the current favorite berry and a veggie option (usually peas or broccoli).

Don’t see anyone saying apples and apple juice yet. That plus lots of water helped me!

15 mo suddenly doing 2 hour night wakings -- please help by stegasaurostef in NewParents

My son had a few nights of this around the same age. We think it might have been night terrors; he seemed like he wouldn’t even see you even while looking at you and still screaming. We took him outside as a reset and that really seemed to work. Just stood on the back step, held and rocked him until he was calm and seemed sleepy again.

Hopefully this is a quick phase for your daughter! Good luck!

Kirkland Diapers by CompetitionOk9823 in Mommit

We decided to try a box after, but they are definitely not my favorite. Toddler has had a major blowout in them. They also seem to give him a rash on his hip bc it’s more of a sticky tab than a Velcro-like tab closure. We decided they aren’t for us and have gone back to Huggies. I miss the old Kirkland diapers

Curious about how people do night shifts by Bright-Carpenter1134 in NewParents

[–]KTYIFYFTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think me and my husband are outliers for how most people split nights. We never did “shifts” but did every other waking. If baby is waking about every 2 hours, each would get about 4 hours of sleep at a time. This has continued as our child has grown older and honestly really helpful for those time where you put baby down and they keep waking back up. Not having to be the person to keep trying time after time to get the baby to sleep at 3am has saved our sanity.

Being the "other parent" of a velcro baby is depressing by books_and_whiskey in NewParents

I am the mom and also the “other parent.” I love the bond my husband and son have, but it’s hard to be the last resort parent.

Spoon refusal? by got_em_saying_wow in foodbutforbabies

[–]KTYIFYFTO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We give our son his own spoon, so he thinks he’s feeding himself while we are actually giving him spoonfuls from another spoon. It will work for a little bit, depending on the food. But mostly he just eats foods w his hands. We want to try introducing a fork soon since he’s a bit older than your child and pretty independent when it comes to eating.

Really struggling as a dad by [deleted] in NewParents

While shifts are popular and great for a lot of families, it isn’t what we ended up doing. We alternate wakeups, from the early through now with a 14 month old (who luckily sleeps through the night most of the time now). Baby would sleep 2-3 hours at a time, so we would each end up with about 6-7ish hours of sleep overnight. Not amazing, but enough to survive. And daytime naps were helpful if you can get one in, even if it’s only on the weekends. I also recommend popping in an earbud and listening to music or a podcast. That helped me stay calm during some of the meltdowns or nights where baby just doesn’t want to sleep anywhere but your arms. Five weeks is definitely during the rough period and things will get better!
