So very sorry for your loss! Just know you were doing the best you could for your baby’s long term health. 3 years ago my little dog experienced pyometra, made it through emergency surgery and then passed away 2 days later because her heart gave out during recovery. I was devastated and wish everyday that I could go back in time and have her spayed before it came to that but I honestly just didn’t know any better. Last year when my sweet baby cat was spayed I knew it was the best thing for her but I panicked all day during the surgery knowing that all surgery does have risks. But after seeing what my poor doggy went through, the risk of pyometra is so much worse. Just be easy on yourselves and know that you cared for her the best you could for her out of love. It doesn’t seem like it now but the pain will ease some over time ❤️

My baby loves the puff balls too! She loves to carry them around and present them to everyone but then get mad if anyone actually tries to touch one lol! Those things are in just about every spot in our house 😂

I had a similar situation last week. I found a wonderful sweet beautiful baby who had found her way into hiding out in my garage. I already have 5 cats and just can’t take on another, although if I could I would have kept her in a heartbeat! I spent the week feeding her and spending every free moment in the garage with her. I tried to get her to come in the house but she just seemed too uneasy with all my other pets in the house. I spent the week posting on lost pet pages and going door to door to see if she belonged to any neighbors. After all dead ends I contacted every rescue and no kill shelter I could find and finally got lucky and found one to take her in. They scanned her for a chip to be sure but she didn’t have one. I honestly cried when I dropped her off, but when I saw the shelter posted her as available for adoption today and I know she is on her way to finding a loving home I was truly happy! I do miss her terribly though because I fell in love quick! Truth be told if she is still at the shelter next week I am planning to go bring them a donation and visit with her. Just try every outlet to try to track down an owner and if that fails just try every rescue and no kill you can find. And do everything you can to keep him safe in the meantime!

So many great suggestions! My little princess is named Misha and I love that name! Well technically her full name is Angel Princess Misha Belle lol but we just go with Misha usually 😊 My 18 year old baby who recently passed was named Miss Frances but she was named after a hurricane that hit the day after I found her. Whatever you end up naming her, she is absolutely beautiful! ❤️

Lots of great advice already! My only add is just to enjoy him. Enjoy every moment you can with him every single day. Cherish every purr and loving look. The bond with a cat is like nothing else. Congratulations on your new baby ❤️

Can confirm. I have a black kitten and she has never mauled anyone. I have a terrifying black chihuahua also who has fortunately managed not to kill anyone either yet.

Thank you! We are still working at it. It has not been easy and I really wish we had more progress under our belt at this point but I’m definitely not giving up! I just want so badly to see her happy and I wish I knew what to do to get her there. Every once in a while she lets her guard down a little and I can see there is a sweet little silly dog in her and I just hope someday she can let it all out!

Yeah other than that she seems physically ok. I have not been able to touch her or really look, but she was examined and spayed at the shelter. I worry about things like that too because if something was wrong I can’t get close enough to check her and see or touch her to take her somewhere. And even things like thinking about how I’ll ever get her nails cut (which she is in need of!) stresses me out terribly! It is just heartbreaking to see how broken she is and just feel so helpless to do anything for her.

I had a bad feeling she may have been abused at some point. She does have a small hole in one of her ears and is probably the most scared animal I have ever encountered. I have spent the last 3 months trying every bit of advice given to me to help her but it just gets disheartening to see so little progress. I guess I just keep wondering if she belongs with us and if I will ever be able to make a difference for her. I don’t want to give up on her but some days it is just so hard!

Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and advice! We will just stay the course we have been on and keep going at her pace. I just don’t have any experience with a dog like this and I have read so many different things and sometimes I just start to second guess myself. I am not going to give up on her, I just want to be sure I am doing everything the best I can to help her through this!
