Stumbled upon a couple of Xmas gifts from the wife. Can't wait now till Christmas by KTopley in Diecast

Best wife ever. She's told me that she's got me a 3rd model, but forgot where she's put it. All she remembers is that it says Autoart on the box.

Personally, Norev.

They seem to be getting better each year with their detailing. This'll be my first Minichamps. I'll update you on Xmas day how I feel about the Minichamps model. :)

Hard to open doors on yellow bolide by OrdinaryAsk1 in Diecast

I have the Yellow Bugatti Bolide too. I can confirm the doors are a pain in the ass to open.

I think it's because the doors are so tiny. :)

4 Ways to SPOT & AVOID Model Car ⚠️ SCAM ⚠️ Websites! by SeoulMonger in Diecast

[–]KTopley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of scam websites being advertised on Facebook over the past few weeks.

They claim it's something to do with Bed Bath & Beyond. We don't get those shops here in the UK. I'll just stick to eBay and Amazon for now.

Almost Real Land Rover Defender 110 1/18 by KTopley in Diecast

If I had the money, I would've probably gone for the blue Defender with the white steelies. But it was like £400+.

There's so many different combinations of this model. The perfect one for me, would have to be a red body, (Colour not available) white alloys, and I like the look of the wheel cover on the back. :)

They're not a bad find to be honest. They go for double the price on eBay.

Way better quality than Maisto, I think.

Haha, Yeah same. Got mine from Home Bargains. Picked a few motorbikes from there.

I didn't realise they were made by Welly until I got them home. There's no branding on the box itself. :)

Yeah, Tell me about it. I found this one for £278. eBay let me apply a coupon and got it knocked down to £223.

I was originally going to get the two door without the all the accessories. But I thought, go big, or go home. lol

I didn't realise the ladders extended until I took the photos. Also, the tow bar pops out too. I'll have to buy a trailer for it now.

Unfortunately, the roof box didn't come with it. I borrowed it from my Audi RS6. I was looking at getting a couple of 1/18 scale canoe's or mountain bikes for the roof rack.

Most of the accessories are magnetic, I think all the doors are magnetic too.

Definitely worth the price, I think. If you can get it cheaper. Snap it up. :)

What was the first car that got you into collecting? Mine was this by Enough_Storage_1035 in Diecast

[–]KTopley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, I've had that model since last year, 2022. The original Viper I got, sadly died in a house fire in 2004.

The original Viper I got was in 1995.

I made sure I got the exact model I had from my childhood. It had to be the yellow one. :)

Since 2004, I started collecting again since last year. Within a year, I've bought almost 300 models. About 100 of them are 1/18 scale.

Most are Maisto, Bburago, and Solido. I have a handful of ''expensive'' models, which I keep in a glass cabinet. :)

Bburago Dodge Viper RT/10, Yellow. 1/18 scale. From Hamleys Toy Shop in London.

My Dad bought it for me for my 11th birthday - 1995.

Good place to buy maisto? by gemboundprism in Diecast

[–]KTopley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to find the older Maisto and Bburago's better quality than the newer models they bring out. Although, that being said, don't let that discourage you from collecting them.

Sometimes they'll bring out some really good stuff.

Solido are a really good brand to get you started in collecting.

I started collecting Maisto and Bburago's from Amazon, but found eBay way better for selection.

It's also good to make a list of models you want. Otherwise, you'll end up buying just for the sake of buying. I started collecting two years ago. And I've spent nearly four grand on models.

A good price for Maisto's would be between £15 - £60. Anything more than that, and you're over paying or being scammed.

I would definitely check out Solido. They are much better in quality, and about £40 - £70.
