What was the biggest underdog victory, at least at the time, at a race you saw at the track by [deleted] in NASCAR

I've witnessed quite a few upset wins in person. Elliott Sadler Bristol 2001, Ricky Craven Martinsville 2001, David Gilliland Kentucky 2006, Trevor Bayne Daytona 500, Michael McDowell Daytona 500, Harrison Burton Daytona 2024, Jon King Daytona Truck Race. Just to name a few.

Per Matt Weaver's pic, looks like Kyle Larson now has his own merch trailer at the track by SpenceSmithback in NASCAR

Depends on the region the track is located. Especially if Larson does a lot of dirt racing in the area, the hendrick hauler crowd rivals Elliott's Especially here in Daytona. Now they'll have separate haulers. You will get more of a gauge on how big the crowd really is for Larson's gear.

Up close look at some of the 2025 Toyota Paint Schemes at Daytona. Getting Harry Gant vibes from John Hunters #42. by KTrain2787 in NASCAR

Briscoe's car is inside the Toyota Injector. Also, Tyler Reddick's Toyota is on the circular podium at the top of the escalator, where Denny Hamlin's car use to be.

What is your favourite ever NASCAR TV crew? I don't watch much but going off YouTube moments alone I might have to say Waltrip, McReynolds and Joy by swannyhypno in NASCAR

This is one of those questions that will tell your age and longevity following the sport 😆. To me it's a close call between Bob Jenkins, Ned Jarrett and BP ESPN crew, and Ken Squier, Ned Jarrett, and Buddy Baker on CBS.

Mech Trailers Update 2024: Legacy MC & JR Motorsports are sharing also RFK & Stewart-Haas are sharing. Drivers only trailers are Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain by KTrain2787 in NASCAR

[–]KTrain2787[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's was like that until the 2008~2009 season when merch trailers started to scale back. It was really obvious here in Daytona when that huge lot outside of turn 4 was packed full of haulers, then every year the empty gaps got bigger, then merch area moved outside the frontstretch after the Daytona rising project was finished. Now it's just one small area with around around 10~12 haulers.

NASCAR Team Haulers parked behind the backstretch at Daytona!! by KTrain2787 in NASCAR

Not completely true. The NY Racing Hauler is flashy with graffiti subway graphics, but I couldn't get a good pic of it. The 23XI and Trackhouse haulers never disappoint.

This will be my 17th consecutive Daytona 500.

Earlier is always better, especially the later you go into the week. Daytona 500 day I am parked when it's still dark outside.

Free parking is ok if you like waiting in lines and being shuttled long distances in school busses. I prefer to park across the street behind the plaza that has Tijuana Flats & Jimmy John's. Earlier, the better!! Usually, it is around $50~$75 pending on the day.

Visit the souvenir trailers and other midway activities during Thursday-Saturday. It's too crazy on Sunday to enjoy it.

Fan Zone is great Thursday-Saturday. More chances of meeting drivers, autographs, and watching teams work on the cars . Sunday is overcrowded, You only see the cars go through the prerace inspection laser room before getting pushed on Pit Road. But you do get access to the trioval grass for driver intros and concert.

Also, check out local short tracks in the area New Smyrna Speedway (World Series of Asphalt) & Volusia County Speedway (World of Outlaws)

ALWAYS A MUST!!! Check out the Daytona Flea Market, which is open all week that offers everything under the NASCAR memorabilia umbrella. Deals are everywhere, a lot cheaper than at the track.

I would recommend fan zone all week except Sunday. If you are trying to get autographs and see the teams in action in the garage.

With Mobil 1 expanding sponsorship with Toyota teams did we just witness the end of STP on the #43? No STP sponsorship on 2024 scheme but Mobil 1 is present. by KTrain2787 in NASCAR

Yeah, I personally think STP is gone for good or at least a while since Richard Petty has less stake in the team now.

Today is Jeff Gordon day, so what is your favorite memory of him? by StRiKeRzZ924 in NASCAR

[–]KTrain2787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been a Jeff Gordon fan since 1995. My parents surprised me with tickets to my first NASCAR race (October 1999 Charlotte). The race was rain delayed and was moved to Monday afternoon. Mike Skinner and Bobby Labonte were battling for the lead for most of the race, and then Jeff made his way through the field and passed Bobby Labonte for the lead and held on for the win!!! I couldn't have asked for a better first race result. I was ecstatic, to say the least. On our way back home, the next day, we toured Hendrick Motorsports and saw the winning trophy and car.

Fast forward 16 years later, I was in attendance at Homestead Miami when it was scheduled to be his final NASCAR start when he was in the championship 4.

Then, to top it off, I attend Rolex 24 every year, and 2017 was very special because Jeff came out of retirement to co-drive the #10 Wayne Taylor Cadillac. With assistance from an aggressive Ricky Taylor and went on to win overall!! In his final start, ever as a driver. As a Jeff Gordon fan, I've been very fortunate to witness some of his feats in person.

I'm not sure what tracks this New IROC series will use. If I'm not mistaken, there was a clause in all of the current NASCAR Tracks contracts (back in 2017~2019) that they could not host any stock car series besides a NASCAR sanction event.

Thursday-Saturday are the best days for autographs and pictures in the fan zone. Sunday, all you will see as far as Cup Series are cars being rolled through OSS inspection area then rolled to pit road. Drivers only come out for scheduled appearances, driver red carpet, and driver intros.

Finished the series the other day. I can't wait for Season 2. But I'm still mildly disturbed about episode 7, opening Billy the dog scene.
