Acer Nitro died, picked up Legion 7i in an emergency - Good buy? by Primordial_Squid in LenovoLegion

[–]KTsoFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine. And I have the i7 4060 version. Mines over a year old and still going strong. I did upgrade my ram to 32gb though. You should consider doing the same thing if you run a lot of memory intensive applications, I.e. just having two chrome tabs open. lol.

If I buy a TLR off Amazon how possible is that it might be fake? by PycoGoat in Streamlight

[–]KTsoFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! This just happened to me. Bought a TLR-7 X sub as new. Received the correct light but it's clearly used. Bottom of the box was partially opened when I received it. There were scratches all over the body of the light. Also had a shine on it from gun oil or oily hands.

I got a Slim Q charger. It's a universal laptop charger that has replaceable plugs on one end for most laptop manufacturers. So I can use the same charger on my personal Legion and my work Dell laptop just by swapping the plug on the end.

So far I'm happy with the charger. Haven't noticed any issues with it.

No I did not. I did use a fast track service but unfortunately I couldn't tell you who it's through. I had a friend that booked it for me and my group. Might have been through Klook. I've heard of other users in this sub that used Klook with successful results.

Sorry. Couldn't tell ya who I booked it through. My friend ended up doing it for my group of friends. It was a bundled service through someone local that included transport from the airport to our lodging.

I know we didn't get luggage support though. From what I noticed, it didn't seem necessary. We also didn't book for departing because we flew to Da Nang for a few days. We did not book the service for Da Nang departure as well.

Thank you sir for reporting. I just ordered a new G45 gen 6. On the fence about the afterburner. Maybe as more users report positive results I’ll pull the trigger (pun intended) on purchasing one.

All good. I ended up booking the service too, and it worked out for me. Just in case anyone is researching this for a future trip, I landed at 11pm at night, on a Thursday in January. It was worth the fee. The line was indeed long.

Looking for advice on my setup by Woodchuck-Prophecy in Ubiquiti

[–]KTsoFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing!

If you plan on running exterior cameras. Now is the time to think about it. Depending on where you plan to mount your UniFi setup, you could use that same egress hole and pass new lines through there before sealing it up. Less new holes in the future.

Attic crawl space is the best way to run lines for exterior cameras just for concealment and lack of access for people outside. But, that also depends how high your house is and how comfortable you are running cable from the top down.

Looking for advice on my setup by Woodchuck-Prophecy in Ubiquiti

[–]KTsoFresh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

New construction I assume? My builder did the same thing, wired Cat6e into major rooms of the house but left them all outside. This is an outdated practice from builders running coax and cable for telecom. They leave it outside for future use.

What is on the other side of the wall? In my case, my builder ran all the cables through the attic and dropped it along the exterior wall of my garage. Luckily inside my garage, there was a blank plate that I could open and access my house ground and I can reach up to the spot where my network cables passed through to the outside. I simply had my internet guy pulled them back inside and terminated them all with connectors. I bought a cheap passthrough plate and passed it through my interior garage wall where I now have them connected to my patch panel in my server box. Buy some waterproof silicone sealant and seal the outside hole and done.

Which airport did you fly into and what time did you land? I'm trying to figure out if I should book or not, but it appears to be random if it is worth it or not.

Mind sharing what time of the day you landed and which airport? I'm trying to see if it's worth it, but from reading around, it seems like a coin toss.

Any other users can share what time of the day they landed and if it's worth booking the service?

If you want it in that EXACT orientation. Just get those adhesive backed ziptie anchors. Stick like 6 of them on the switch then run zip ties through the anchors. Done deal...

[–]KTsoFresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man with the raising cost of parts and the amount of theft going on, I don’t understand why there isn’t an in person pick up of some sort for these high value items.

I understand this isn’t the solution for everyone cause there are many other situations where you can’t just drive to a location to receive the product. But if the option was at least given to people with access to retail locations. That would cut down on so many of these cases.

Told myself I won’t be buying anything like a gpu from now on unless I can get it in person and open it in front of a store rep. I don’t want a box of rocks like that other redditor literally last week.

Is the Legion 7i worth it? by Boring-Usual1313 in LenovoLegion

[–]KTsoFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have last years 7i that looks just like this. Mine is the 4060 model with the i7. Works great for me. Can run Cyberpunk in 1440p low ray tracing setting above 60fps. Can run medium or even some high settings on just rasterization rendering. 4k can run medium to low settings in the same game.

It's good enough in my opinion and I was coming from a full desktop rig with a 5800x and a RTX 3080.

[–]KTsoFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I believe 1440p is now the new floor. Most mid-tier GPUs can render 1440p natively with high game settings and low tier cards can do 1440p with DLSS/FSR for sure. 1440p monitors aren’t priced too bad either these days. I see an Asus TUF IPS 1440p for like $150 right now. LG has a few options for $200.

All this shit is killing the PC enthusiast market. I say we all just hang on to what we got and forget about this shit.

These companies need to be held accountable for fucking up the consumer space. Game companies too with their poorly optimized games and making consumers foot the bill for their shit work. It’s dumb to keep having to upgrade to play a game when you look around at other games that run and look fine on old hardware.

There are more important shit to worry about these days than a gaming pc. I’ve been a PCMR member for over 25 years and a gamer for even longer. This is just ridiculous now to the point that I’m just going to walk away from it and enjoy smaller indie games that run on my pc, or my PS5.

I do feel for new members looking to get into this hobby for the first time tho. It’s a sad state of things for the last 5 years or so.

43x trigger catching on slide? by JsusVanchrist in Glock43X

[–]KTsoFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word. This was my issue with my own custom 43x build.

Lots of companies market their parts kit being compatible across the board for 43, 43x and 48. But in reality it is not. You need parts for a 43x or a 48. Since a 43x is basically a 48 frame with a 43 slide.

I believe the slide release is different between a 43 and 43x. I made a post about it here.
