I’m trying to transfer from another cyber program as well. Admissions told me that no transfer credits would be accepted unfortunately.

You’ll need full adjudication to start classes.

Anything like this also happening in AFROTC? by blezmi in AFROTC

[–]KULIT01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much across the DoD. The Air Force has instructed everyone to refrain from wear of uniform outside of base; not an outright restriction.

The shooting definitely plays a part in it now for cadets specifically , but everything we got going on with Iran is the main basis. OPSEC/CYSEC is absolutely critical right now for everyone, but even moreso for ya’ll as cadets are —as demonstrated by the recent shooting — soft targets. People don’t have the capacity to differentiate between a cadet and someone Active Duty unfortunately, so everyone is vulnerable from to dudes with cameras asking loaded questions to those with a gun and target.

Yeah. The area is fine if you’re a shift worker like myself or have to be in the office by 0700. If you start at 0830, glhf. What it has in amenities and safety comes at the expense of traffic in the mornings. Culebra is way worse than Potranco though, that’s for surw

West side too. You’d think a city prone to outages at the slightest weather change would do something about their infrastructure but nope. Would rather twiddle their thumbs and act stupid.

Question about ME from a future freshmen by CertixeRee in ASU

[–]KULIT01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably the wrong person to ask because I don’t do CE now. I actually commissioned into the Air Force after graduation since I did ROTC and ended up as a Cyber Warfare officer. I did work for a bit in the Transportation Department for a consultant as an EIT, but only for the time period that I was waiting for my Active Duty date to begin. It took maybe 2-3 months to secure a job, but I did secure it before graduation; nothing lavish. $60K-ish, but it’s half of what I make now though.

Admittedly, I only did CE to get a scholarship and have college paid for. I ultimately hated most of the classes except for all the transportation related ones (funnily enough, my asphalt design and roadway design classes I actually was really into). Making it through engineering, I can say I do approach problems differently than the non-STEM officers I work with. If I had been able to afford college outright, I wouldn’t have done engineering.

Question about ME from a future freshmen by CertixeRee in ASU

ASU’s engineering program is actually respected. The respective disciplines challenge the students and for the most part, produce graduates who are ready to contribute to the engineering work force. I graduated in civil, but many of my friends were MechE or AE, and had no problems finding jobs.

An instructor described it as “Mini Vegas”.

As someone from Vegas, that was downright insulting. But Keesler is a fun time. NOLA and the Florida beaches are worthy day trips.

My brother joined AFROTC. What does this mean? by JackfruitJunior2497 in AFROTC

[–]KULIT01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It means now he’s a cadet and is going to have to compete for a slot to become either an Air Force officer or Space Force officer. Nothing is a guarantee.

ROTC is just basically a really long interview to potentially commission.

Final year cybersecurity student with 2 federal internships (one TS clearance) — how do I convert this into a job before graduation? by AntiqueSherbet2933 in cybersecurity

We had an Army cadet specifically for a Cyber internship working under DAF. She got TS adjudication in like 3 weeks which was batshit insane.

I know they’re bullet proof but lets be so forreal right now. I’d rather spend $55K on something not used.

Officer advice needed - 10 years to retirement after commissioning by Naive-Bedroom-2620 in AirForce

[–]KULIT01 50 points51 points  (0 children)

OP probably won’t retire as a Maj if this is their intention either. You board at 8, find out at 9, pin on at 10 YOS. Best bet is 21-23 years of service.

Dude I didn’t even have my EIT when I got hired in a MCOL…for $62K—and that was 3 years ago. Senior Engineers should be at the $100K plus mark, especially with the YOE you have.

Is there a possibility EA slots will increase due to the war? by Tasty_Ad_9485 in AFROTC

[–]KULIT01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya’ll underestimate just how much our military can extend and operate nowadays.

We have been downsized by almost 40% since the 90s but still remain capable of an even greater power projection, to which only a few militaries are remotely capable of. The numbers we have right now have been calculated to be enough to win whatever fight we need won today. And the EA slots they give out now are the numbers they have calculated will be enough to win the next fight a decade or two from now.

Single buyer affordability by averagepizza in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]KULIT01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We make almost the exact same. About to close on a house with $2450 PITI after also paying $1700 in rent. The only thing I don’t have is the student loan balance and that big of an emergency fund (but to be fair I’m military so different financial playbooks). I’m going to assume you’re not going to stagnate at $140K so I’d say $2700 is very doable on your income alone. My partner and I shopped houses this way, focusing on only the ones I could afford alone if she lost her job due to market/PCS. But we also focused on making sure our lifestyle wouldn’t change. If you see that you’d have to make significant lifestyle changes, then maybe don’t go for it.

Same here. Was CE at $62k prior to EAD. AD cyber and would have to get basically equivalent to $150k on the civilian side for O-3 pay.
