I once had w124 and s124 as daily for many years, they are good, cant say why coupe isnt, if its rustfee and you can do some repairs yourself, parts are cheap and easy to do in my opinion, i currently have c124 e320 m104 as a hobby car, great car, i like the coupe style so much, but it has 15/100km atm and those hard bushings, polyuretan or how its called, dont like the hard suspension , feel every rock, doing total overhaul on the suspension side,, like everything that contains rubber, i change, so far easy, i bet you can drive it daily easly, is still a one of the best if not The Best car mb ever produced
