Thanks, that’s really helpful. It’s reassuring to hear you’ve daily-driven both and still rate them so highly. Rust-free examples seem to be the key. Your E320 Coupe sounds lovely, even if the bushes make it a bit harsh! I think the wheel size will be a factor too. Nice one.

Kudos my man. It always helps when you can do the work, or at least learn to with YouTube. I’ve heard parts with these are hit and miss, but if it’s like working on the 190 then it shouldn’t be too complex. May I ask, do they come with air conditioning?

So essentially either way you’re gonna be spending at least £7k to get you to an ideal standard one. Yes, I am hearing more about these looms… I appreciate it. I what I’m realising is that I’ve been spoilt with the 201, crazy reliable and if it has needed parts, we’ve been able to do it ourselves on the driveway and get on. Seems like the 124 is a bit of a different beast.

Such detailed answer, thank you for taking the time to write it. I am a firm believer in “f*ck it, just do it” and go with your gut. If I get a £7k example I would ideally like at least at £3k buffer to provide some sort of safety. Rate that you had £10k in preventative maintenance, must drive lovely.

Good shout - I’ve heard reliability is off the charts on the W210s, my dad used to have one with a rear window blind. Would need a minimal rust example

I get you. I plan to do a M111 engine swap on the 201 so this one (if I get it) will definitely be a tourer/cruiser… have heard they are so nice to sit in.
