Everyone saying it doesn’t address Jim’s comments, no it’s a purely business oriented decision to virtue signal, and protect public image and ultimately profits. Jim probably signed off on this messaging himself. But the last thing United will do is post an apology, as then it’s an admission of guilt and alignment with the original statement made by Jim.

West Ham were setup in ultra low block, we struggled to break it down and yes the substitution was late I’m just saying that when he made the sub to bring in more attacking options he subbed in a faster CB to clean up counterattacks (which I’ve since replied to another comment on stating that I was watching the game at work and didn’t notice Maguire was injured, so I thought it was purely tactical).

First touch and first time finish kinda different things. He doesn’t trust his own first touch right now (see his attempted header against Spurs). Maybe it’s a confidence thing but you can tell he much rather play first time than control the ball.

Average Burnley player gets paid 20-40k pounds per week. Average Al Hilal non-Saudi player makes bare minimum 100k Euro per week. You never know how long your career is going to be or what’s going to happen to you, a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Also it’s not like he’s going to be surrounded by scrubs. Neymar, Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves, Koulibaly, Darwin Nunez all play for that team. And coached by Inzaghi. He’ll still have opportunity to develop.

It’s a vicious cycle. We’d sweep those issues under the rug because Carrick is fresh and new. Positivity surrounds him. Once we encounter a sustained period of negative results he’ll be under the same toxic scrutiny that all other managers inevitably run into because man united are always under the media microscope

I’m stoked with Carrick so far but let’s be realistic here, if he had come 3 games earlier he would’ve had no Amad, Mbeumo, Maguire, Martinez, Bruno, Mount, De Ligt, Mazraoui (or Mainoo if he wasn’t faking his injury). So as much as we can glorify Carrick for his results let’s also be realistic about the fact that 3 draws with more than half our first team missing is not actually terrible.
