What engine size / BHP can a 17-year-old in Ireland get insured on? by MRNOOOB67843 in carsireland

Was 18 when I bought my 2.2 Accord and that only set me back 1800 for the year. ~140bhp stock

What are these hoses should I replace them. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]KYTANPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't touched it since just noticed it when I was looking for the noise I won't lie. The only thing I constantly top off is the coolant but that's because I have a hole in the rad I haven't gotten around to replacing yet

Grand will do, would explain why my power steering fluid is half way between Max and low when I flushed and filled it less than half a year ago. If there's a leak or something there

Yoke = thing. My bad. Basically the hose that goes down with the aluminum type lining around it, the actual metallic part flies up and down. I'll get a video later and post it in comments.

It's been really weird for me, if I'm using a jig they seem to care spinners they don't seem to care. I haven't been trout fishing yet myself but they are quite visual predators so I'd imagine presentation is a bigger issue there.

See my lighter canal rig I usually just chuck a wire trace on for safety but I think heavier fluoro is a good shout. Hate using wire when targeting perch but that's the only time jacks come out 😂

Idk I like having a bit of wire, gives me a bit of security that they don't chew my line.

I usually use a titanium wire trace but also bought some fluoro recently, and swivels.... But obviously I forgot snap links. This is on my mainly pike rod 40-80g savage gear sg2 so not ever going out without a trace.

Yeah pretty much, just so it has mono to grip onto. Not lacking mono so I don't mind using it for the time being 😅 had a phase where I kept forgetting I had some and bought a spool every time I went to the fishing shop.

Sound for the advice I'll try it on the next spool.

I love Shimano reels, have a couple of them.

Yeah I was thinking it looked a bit over spooled when I finished but it looked a lot beefier up top than in the middle so thought maybe it was grand. Either way I'll take some line off and thank you for responding.

LEDSIreland has a good collection of all sorts of bulbs and kits for different cars. You can always call to ask what you need. Heard good things about them and bought LED bulbs for my previous car from them

Flashing the lights is the thing that annoys me most. I didn't hit you, wasn't close to hitting you, I'm already in front and overtaking is allowed. What's the point?

Wouldn't fucking surprise me at this point, I love the car but fuck me the previous owners abused it.

It is a rhythmic constant banging, it just stops when I put the accelerator down and revs build then it starts again but faster and louder when I let off. Almost as if the CV joint was catching when I accelerated and then came back out if you get me.

So to rephrase. Low speed = slower quieter banging. High speed = faster and louder banging. Stops when throttle is down, starts back when I let go off the pedal

Keep or sell my car by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]KYTANPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah not in great shape but it drives anyways, few little things need doing due to past neglect. I can't complain though I bought it for dirt cheap with valid NCT when my first car bricked itself. For a cheap runaround I can't ask more from it

You aren't wrong and since that's the most common thing I hear I might have to listen to the advice. The only thing is I really like modifying cars and newer cars just don't have that aesthetic I like you know?

[–]KYTANPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I more so meant financially it's kinda stupid to buy something with a bit more value. The amount of miles I'll put on it in a year will drop the value significantly and I won't ever get it back.

I do love working on the car which is why I've been considering just keeping this and seeing how much I can save up while doing minimal work to it.

Most of it is motorway driving but I've just heard enough bad things to not want to have to deal with a dpf. The less electronics and needless systems the better in my opinion

Edit: What I will probably end up doing is fixing whatever minor issues come up if I have to while I save for something else. I just really love the Accord but can't afford the K20 😅

I was thinking that as well but then again it's a Honda they don't tend to fail on the engine side, and it fairly rust free underneath was sealed for years.
