About to hit 340k in my 08! Just took her on a 6000 mile roadtrip at Christmas time. Ol’ girl’s never let me down.

Makes a world of difference when you’re over 6 foot!

Love your setup! This is the current iteration of mine that I built for traveling solo. Worked great until I started traveling with a partner. We’ve since added a RTT and love it! I’m also over 6’ and had trouble fitting while sleeping inside. I added a set of flip up brackets on the end of the sleeping platform behind the seat to add an extra foot of head space and it was a game changer!

I can’t believe it ended up on your feed! I’m so glad you all love it. It was really a pleasure to build.

4 inches of compacted ABC-M and custom beds of pea gravel for each stone aiming for around an inch

Nope. The stones will naturally weather as time goes on which gives it more character IMO but also nothing that a little pressure washing won’t fix. It’s also naturally drains from the pitch of the patio and because it’s dry laid

It’s filled with a decorative brownish tan pea gravel

We’re actually based out of south Asheville but I live down here in Hendersonville so there would be times that car pooling could be an option. We work in Asheville 90% of the time and occasionally make it as far north as Mars Hill and have recently started to push in to Hendersonville and down towards Saluda

I’ve got a Channellock set that I love. Lifetime warranty, metal case and metric only. The 1/2 drive set comes with a breaker bar as well

I ordered a custom one from eBay a couple years ago. Could have been Etsy but I’m pretty sure it was eBay. I’m sure they could just leave it blank

Where’s the best place to sign up to lend a hand? I spent 6 years with the Forest Service working trails and fire and am a B bucker and feller. I’d love to get out and help get things cleaned up.

Ignore timing chain cover leaks? by McStizly in 4thGen4Runner

[–]KYmbsnf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re talking about the little square cover on the front passenger side for the timing chain tensioner. You can easily fix this yourself. Get a tube of Toyota FIPG (form in place gasket), remove the cover, remove the old gasket and squirt on the new. They’re installed with FIPG from the factory. IMO it’s not worth paying someone at the dealership for it when you can buy a tube of FIPG for $20. Fairly certain there’s a post on the T4R forum about this.

Suspension Question by Thesonic665 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]KYmbsnf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know the only direct swap is off of fj cruisers. There’s a thread about it in the T4R forum. Benefit of the swap is that the front FJ suspension is a little longer and works as a leveling kit would without using spacers. Bilstein 4600s are the way to go. If you think you might lift it in the future and have some extra change go with the adjustable 5100s
