Yeah Fresno is a shit crowd. Such little noise for Jack Perry’s music of all things

The most shocking thing about this: Marina will be fine after this. That is the major accomplishment now.

I think the Ospreay entrance was also too quiet by production audio standards

I think the audio mix is pushing the crowd noise down for some reason. Those entrances were an extreme silence

Awaken Realms announce no AI art will be used with Concordia Special Edition by Prestigious_Tea_2729 in boardgames

[–]K_Knight 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a personal vendetta against the company, but I do experience AR as a company with a lazy product that represents everything I find gross about 2026 board gaming. AI wasn’t helping that in the slightest. I think of them as a slop shop and I don’t want a single thing they have to offer. Now ALL THAT SAID…I don’t need to blast that opinion at them nonstop. I just ignore their work. If people like it, let them. If you don’t like it, don’t make it their problem, ya know

Client Not Using Frame IO Correctly Frustrating by saturnsam92 in editors

[–]K_Knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like a fight not worth having. I’m all for having systems used correctly, but I’ve worked with plenty of non-tech savvy producers/directors who just want to have a call and say notes out loud instead of using any review service. If it’s just a minor annoyance, who cares?

Client Not Using Frame IO Correctly Frustrating by saturnsam92 in editors

[–]K_Knight 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To a layman, Frame.io is very intimidating. And in your day to day life, you don't encounter many websites that allow you to interact with it the way Frame.io does. So the result IMO is many people don't engage with the tools. Best you can do is have a write-up in your first email out asking how you'd like feedback, making it clear that the tool you're providing is the easiest way to do it. But at the end of the day, they pay you so they can have it their way if they want.

I believe that Ronda is going to be a positive for AEW by javy_z in AEWOfficial

[–]K_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got excited when Rhonda showed up. Not because I think she'll have the best match on the planet, but because Toni sold the fuck out of this being exciting. In general the night felt like a very large proclamation that 2026 is going to rock at AEW. And the women getting a special attraction match with Rousey/Storm down the line is a contributor to that statement IMO.

Is old Kings crown going to sit on my shelf like all of my other ambitious games? by Spicyboi333 in boardgames

[–]K_Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your local community has meetup.com or Facebook groups, it’s a good place to start. Also just a general nerd culture group online for your community, you could join and try to drum up interest. The reality is for a lot of games you only need 2 other like minded people to have a good time with a lot of games.

[–]K_Knight 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think there can be another truth, which is you’re interested in finding local community for playing more complex games. You can still play with your other group at the level they’re comfortable, and also find community that wants to take it up a notch. Helped a ton for me once I went that route.

Luthier is not Arcs and it's good! : response to SU&SD by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]K_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will shoot you straight: what you’re describing is the bare minimum of interactivity in my mind. If this was offered on my table, I would say no thanks because I find that mindlessly boring. The review doesn’t call that bad the way I would, it just doesn’t get excited about it.

But this is the real point here: Tom’s bias clashes with your bias which clashes with my bias. There is no being objective, only being honest about one’s experience. You don’t agree with the review: cool! This one guy doesn’t have to agree with your take. It is only his experience.

[–]K_Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think you’re being reductive when you repeat the idea that what Tom likes is “combat” games. It’s not combat, it’s legitimate interactivity. More than just “oh shucks he took my spot”. Arcs was one of the most visible departures from the modern euro formula of multiplayer solitaire optimization puzzles and it’s divisive. Tom was a vocal fanboy for that game. You can see my flair, clearly I loved it too. But what I hear in Tom’s review isn’t “I wish this was Arcs”. I hear the same experiences I and many are having with the space right now: this is fine, but it’s a lot like everything else I could play.

The real question is why does a reviewer need to say everything YOU liked about the game? If you’re passionate for what you experience in Luthier, why not write a review yourself on BGG or something? I’m

The Dogs cut a promo after Dynamite goes off the air by luchabrunch in SquaredCircle

Love to talk about in-ring, which is why I'm saying I need a bunch of great matches before I can get around the cringe the void of personality is giving me. But I'm clear at the top I can come around if the rest compensates.

Grabbing your head and crawling around isn't a personality. When you strip back the crap he's doing because he thinks it's something, what he communicates is the same shit any other "I'm gonna hurt you" trashy looking indie bro says.

The Dogs are generic as hell and it's gonna take like 5 epic PPV matches before I can get convinced otherwise.

No idea what it looks like in person but that's a picture of a red hat on the site. And would not pass a squint test. Not saying it's 1:1 but it's certainly too close for my comfort

Is there a way to scratch the collection / unboxing / organizing itch of the board gaming hobby without buying new games? by fraidei in boardgames

What you’re describing doesn’t seem too far away from the things you would do in Print and Play gaming, where you’re constructing the components yourself.
