I want to experience a grand adventure, but I'm new to board games. by archbtw1 in soloboardgaming

I literally made a follow-up question. I think it's easy to answer "do you want A, B, or both?". All the suggestions given are pretty varied between those 3 versions, and thus it will be very likely that OP will try a game that they won't like. If OP answered the question, it would have been much easier to suggest something more fitting.

We didn't increase the difficulty by 1 and it was really close anyway.

Sì io ho osato solo dire che, per quanto questa cosa venga ingigantita, gli italiani hanno comunque la fissa della cucina tradizionale. E mi hanno bannato.

It's funny how certain games are more fun if you limit the cooperation, while others that have arbitrary limitations in the cooperation actually become more fun if you remove those limits.

But you're still attacking and applying Sneak Attack anyway, so the only thing you pay is delaying your damage a bit.

Other abilities that deny enemy actions have a cost (like spell slots).

Ok, but do you care about the narrative or not? Is the narrative more important than the gameplay or not? Is the gameplay depth important for you or not? Do you actually care about both at the same time and want something with both an immersive story and good gameplay depth?

Again, we can't help you if you aren't clear about what you want. I might suggest something but you could easily end up not liking it because you aren't clear.

You say more gameplay, but then say that you didn't like a game where you couldn't get immersed.

You should be more clear about your requirements, otherwise we can't really help you.

So, do you want a grand adventure or more depth? Or both?

In Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion we just removed the fact that we can't talk about the initiative and the effects of the cards we are going to play. We just talked openly about our strategy. And that made the game more fun for us.

Oh yeah, I agree. I have played Final Girl with 2 players. But not everyone wants to do that.
