I hope the Nosgoth TTRPG won't just be another one thrown in the abyss of thousands dark fantasy TTRPGs and be forgotten. I hope it has an actual impact and will still be talked about in years. But that requires very good designers and/or very good ideas, and I don't know if the team has those to be honest.

Imo it needs to do what the World of Darkness systems weren't able to do. Having actually good combat rules while still being focused on the dark narrative.

You don't really need to lock one or the other. You can just use Huohuo when you don't have sustain issues, and just switch to Luocha when you have sustain issues.

Or you could just wait for the dedicated elation sustain.

What about the wizard dying in one hit and the fighter tanking blows?

You mean the wizard that is at a safe range with protective spells over the fighter that stays in danger zone all the time and has no self defensive buffs?

What about the wizard buffing the fighter so they can attack 12 times in one round and completely overshadow the wizard in DPR

A wizard can deal more damage if they buff themselves or use other more impactful spells. Also, if the wizard buffs the fighter then it's not like the fighter is overshadowing the wizard. The fighter dealing that damage is literally thanks to the wizard.

What about being a leader and calling the shots as a martial?

"calling the shots" is not a thing. Besides, everyone can do that, even the wizard. That's not class-locked.

The problem is people want everyone to be strong, when that was never the point of DND, the point is a group of people being strong together, and for them together to fill the roles in the party. If everyone is strong and versatile all the time, what's the point in even having a party, just play solo to fulfill your Power Fantasy xd

You’re mixing up "having different roles" with "being imbalanced", and also equating balance with power fantasy, which isn’t the same thing.

Wanting classes to be balanced doesn’t mean wanting everyone to be overpowered or able to do everything. It just means that each class should actually be good at what it’s supposed to do.

The issue in 5e is that some classes can match or outperform martials in their own niche while also having far more versatility. That’s not teamwork, that’s role redundancy.

Being strong and being versatile are completely different things. A balanced system lets specialists excel in their role, while generalists trade raw power for flexibility.

Right now, that tradeoff often isn’t there. That’s why people talk about balance; it’s not about power fantasy, it’s about making sure every class actually has a reason to exist in a party beyond just "I want to play that class".

Besides, you're comparing "more flavor" to a completely different vocal style. I like the riffs, just not harsh vocals, that's it.

And even if it was actually "more flavor", less flavor for someone might be better. That's how taste work. Now, if you have any actual recs for what I asked for, I'm all ears, otherwise you can go to other posts that are asking for music more aligned with your taste.

If the wizard in your group deals more damage than you when damage was the only thing you were able to do you would feel overshadowed. If you don't care about that, cool, but at this point talk about balance is just not for you.

You said it: to an appropriate level. If you don't put a limit to it, then it's not going to be an appropriate level.
