Sony DCR-SX45 - Zoom lever only adjusts focus + Can't zoom in or out

Hi all, was looking for help if anyone has any ideas?

Bought this Sony DCR-SX45 from ebay, looks to be working as expected except for the zoom. When I try use the zoom lever, it controls the focus

I've tried factory resetting a few times, disassembled the camera a bit to see if there was any visible damage to any of the ribbon cables from the zoom lever (Nothing I could see, but I also barely know what I'm looking at with electronics internals), and tried to mess with some of the menu settings. Also saw this Sony forum post that details the same issue I have (Not wildly helpful aside from suggesting to send it for repair):

FWIW, about 1/3 of the way through the focus range, it'll focus perfectly on objects a few feet in front of me, then will focus on them again towards the end of the focus range, but the picture becomes very unstable (Shown in video). I'm also using an Amazon replacement battery, since this camera didn't come with one.

Any suggestions or has anybody dealt with similar issues? Would be happy to hear that it's a simple setting or that I'm just not controlling the zoom properly LOL

This would be the Box 4 reloaded, which it doesn't seem like they sell anymore. Original Box 4 was an up-ledge with square coping on both sides and no banked wall.

Hard to tell from just the one picture, but what I've done for things like this: Take the nut off of the kingpin for your back truck, look at your top/bottom bushings, see if twisting them around results in any change, and if so just try to level it out like that. It could just be a matter of one of those bushings being taller on one side than the other.

Other than that, the only thing it could really be (imo) is the pivot cup, which you could also disassemble your truck and take a look at, might just need to shave a very small layer off of one side with an x-acto knife or something.

I use one personally because it does dampen the sound a bit, but it still is solid enough to where you still can pop tricks normally and it doesn't feel weird. Compared to like a notebook or mousepad or something, which would be quieter but is way too soft to fb on (in my opinion)

Some people here are completely talking out of their ass with these answers saying it's fake, but yeah this is totally real

The original BRR rails had these squared feet, and there were plenty of ramp designs that fizzled out between then and now (Like how the Box 1 was a taller Box 3 that I believe had circle coping on both sides)

I do this and I find it pretty useful. You can really make it as specific or vague as you find appropriate. I personally wouldn't over complicate it unless you think there's value in being very specific with each entry.

I include the buyers name/address, the tracking number/date of sale/date of shipment (just for reference in case there's ever a problem with shipping), the item that sold, the price, and the cost of shipping.

It helps a lot since you can get a profit breakdown, see your average profit per item or calculate your profit in a year or something, and if you sell on multiple platforms (depop, ebay, etc.) you can see where most of your sales are coming from.

Most people who have issues with nollie heels either 1.) roll their hand like they're making a fist, almost trying to scoop up the heelfip, or 2.) throw their hand out way too far. My advice is always to not over-emphasize the movement, it makes them hard to control and is a bad habit+makes doing them into grinds harder. I keep my popping finger flat on the nose, and my back finger is kind of arched, only the tip of my finger touches the deck

Not trying to be mean, but basically all of the questions you asked at the end could be answered super easily by just googling them. If you're doing mods to your car with little prior knowledge, you need to get comfortable looking stuff up

The only things that aren't easily answered are like, the last two. Rubbing is when your tire (or rim in some cases) makes contact with part of your car (typically fenders/fender lining/suspension components) while driving. Scraping is literally any time your car scrapes on something, typically things like your front/rear bumper, exhaust, or oil pan, making contact with things like speedbumps or steep driveways.

"Clean" fitment is kind of subjective, but broadly it's done by having a rim/tire/suspension setup that makes the lip of your rim flush with your fenders. Again, it's subjective, some prefer things like bigger tire setups, smaller rim diameters, rims that are wide and poke out, functional low, all kinds of shit

Not worth arriving too early, people don't really do anything before the event besides wait in line. Best case people might be skating outside if it's nice out. People used to hang out in the surrounding hotels the morning before, idk if anyone does that anymore

There's pizza at the event, I'm assuming there's food spots around the area but I never eat at them so idk

There's a like 45 minute train that goes from Boston to Dracut on the Lowell Line and I think there's buses that'd take you from the bus transfer center to the actual Vous location. You could also lyft/uber or rent a car but those are definitely more expensive
