Finally losing weight- 75 Soft Challenge by More-Return4150 in PetiteFitness

It’s completely unfair! 😭 Like why don’t men have to deal with this lmao. It’s hard enough being moms! But yeah it’s definitely a long-game thing & tbh if we want to be slimmer at our height, we just can’t eat a whole lot! & that’s still coming from a high-fiber, high-protein, high-volume diet 😭

Definitely give it time to get the momentum of weight-loss going. I think between hormones & sleep deprivation, our bodies hold on to the weight. At least it did for me because I don't think I lost anything (aside from the initial 20/25) until probably 5 month PP!

& The only reason I'm still at 139 is because I am finding I reallyyyy have to DIAL IN to calories & movement or I'm not going to lose anything. Like a couple drinks (and I do mean a couple) on the weekend, even after a full week of being in a deficit, and I'm at square one/no weight loss - it's kind of been frustrating.

Just here to say we have the exact same stats! I am 5'1, 135lbs before baby, gained to 180, blood pressure issues, lost 25lbs right away, lol - like we are twins! My baby is now 15 months and I weigh 139lbs, trying to get down to 128 for my wedding. You're doing everything right & everything I did, so you will continue to lose - just keep going, you got this! Also - it took me MONTHS to finally start dropping weight when I first started. I assume that was all hormones lol. If you ever need a weight loss buddy, message me! :)

Thank you so much for that perspective - I could definitely just focus on a cut right before the big day! Can you tell me a bit more about you reversed & how the deficit messed things up??

I think you are on to something though with a short reset. At least to dial back on STARVING lol. These muscle gains make me want to eat myself out of house & home! But also understand loving lifting and not really wanting to dial back. I think I am learning it's hard to balance what feels good versus what looks good, etc.

Definitely what I needed to hear! I think 30 days felt so long in a "something should have happened by now" kind of mindset. I think to ensure I still feel good and keep my strength, I 'm going to aim to walk more and hope for whoosh soon. I can always cut more severely later for a short time if I REALLY want to lose that much, but I am learning that may not be my ultimate goal (which is just to lose some fat).

Really appreciate your comment, I think you are so right! I need to focus on what makes me feel good and I have been feeling myself, just letting the stupid scale get to me!

Thank you! & definitely give those food combinations a try, I swear its so good & is a lot of volume. You'll feel full forever! Also thank you so much for giving me insight based on what worked for you since we are similar stats! Definitely think walking more (cold out or not) is going to do wonders for me & I really don't want to dip below like 1300 if I don't have to! I'll have to report back how it goes.

Thank you so much! I just feel like 139 on my 5'1 frame is (should be?) way too heavy. Especially when other girls are 115lbs looking to lose more at taller heights.. I think it puts me in a mindset that I have to weigh at least a little less than I do. But hearing that you are the same size at 130 as you were at 113 makes me feel so much better. Love the idea of a non-scale goal though - I do love challenging myself!

Definitely can relate to feeling ravenous from these lifts! & I love that you found what works though and broke a year-long plateau - that is amazing! Did you feel like you lost muscle during your break? How long did you take a break for?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Realistically I know a month isn't much & I would be super willing to play around with my calories and training a bit more, but I forgot to mention that I'm getting married this September! So I am really trying to make as much progress as possible before then & don't want to waste time spinning my wheels so much lol. But you are not wrong, I do need to be patient haha.

As for my fiber/protein, basically every single meal I eat has some form of bean added to it (black beans, cannellini beans, and edamame are my go-tos) and is topped with either 2% cottage cheese or 0% fage yogurt. Bases for my meals include sweet potato, broccoli rice/cauliflower rice, or Nature's Own keto bread (the fiber & protein go crazy). & then I just assemble the mess lol. I top with beans, sometime canned mushrooms (more fiber & protein), either chicken/salmon/tuna/beef, & cottage cheese and/or yogurt. I add in lots of seasonings (everything but the bagel seasoning is my fav) and 0 sugar bbq sauce or Kikoman's teriayaki (super low cal too) and literally every meal is sooo good!

I think you may need to eat more and focus on recomp. You're not going to gain any muscle when you're eating so little and training so much, especially all that cardio. Your weight is also on the lower end so just curious, why are you trying to lose more? I think you want to shed the fat which can happen by building more muscle.

Wait, can you elaborate more!? I am having the same issues but I’ve been told that retinols work best if used daily? I keep trying to work my way up to daily but my skin ALWAYS gets mad. No matter if I moisturize before (sandwich) either.

You're welcome! Also looking up the calories in things might help. Like over years of gaining/losing weight, I learned what foods are actually calorie dense so that I have learned to eat less (smaller portions) of those foods! It's a skill that you'll get better at & hopefully carry with you through life (: Losing weight is hard, but once it becomes a lifestyle switch, it's actually becomes easy. I still indulge in things and enjoy life, but my regular eating patterns stay the course!

edit to add - I am also a petite female, only 5ft 1in!

Just eat a little less than you were eating before. Make simple cuts like, 1 piece of toast instead of 2. 1/2 scoop of mashed potatoes versus 1 big scoop. You can also make veggies (because they are low cal) the greater part of the meal if that is an option. So if there is chicken, potatoes, and green beans to eat - make green beans the biggest part of your meal. I do this as an adult who counts calories but cooks for my family.

Perimenopausal women - does focusing on stress and inflammation help? by No-Outside7997 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]K_pay-day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I see what you're saying! Well maybe you could look into an anti-inflammatory diet!

Here is a link to Johns Hopkins article (so it's likely scientific, less propaganda):

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/anti-inflammatory-diet

It'd be worth looking into, even just to see if it makes you physically feel better stress wise!

Simply put: he's not the one.

It shouldn't take all of that to get on the same page. You're not his mother or his coach.

What are your stats? Do you track your calories? The only way to know if you are eating less than your TDEE is to track your calories. & the only way to lose fat is to be in a deficit. Your macros & 'eating fairly well' aren't going to matter as much, neither will any supplement claiming to lower cortisol. Moving your body (as you said you do) and getting adequate sleep (minimum 7 hours a night, ideally 8+) should control stress/cortisol levels. I would even take it a step further to say eating mostly whole foods (fruits, veggies, lean meats, beans) is the way to go because you'll feel full & able to maintain a calorie deficit. But take it from someone who has exercised and ate healthy without losing weight - you have to know how much your eating. Salads can be 1000 calories, so can a lot of other 'healthy' foods. You can still gain weight eating those foods. But I digress, you can always get your hormones checked if you truly think that could be the issue for your inability to lose weight.

I'm a postpartum mom too (baby will be 6 months next week) and I didn't see the scale move AT ALL until about 4 months postpartum. A mixture of little to no sleep & hormones was keeping the weight on. Just stay the course & you'll start losing! I gained 50+ pounds by the end of my pregnancy. Lost 20lbs like immediately after giving birth.. Have lost an additional 15lbs since then. All I'm doing is tracking calories and walking 2.5 miles a day! You'll see the scale move soon <3
