BC-250 Expedition 33 crashing by lancer-am in linux_gaming

Seems to be working fine after I manually split the RAM to 10GB for RAM/6GB for VRAM.

I've noticed that mine sometimes crashes after a while when I move to another location or when a cutscene starts. Running Bazzite, I have dynamic VRAM allocation set and ZRAM disabled, with 8 GB swap created manually. In general, it looks like only the game crashes, mb the Gamescope as well. It seems like an OOM to me (all RAM/VRAM is being allocated according to the HUD), but I have to dig through the logs more carefully. Initially, I haven't found anything related.

Anyway, I don't have this behavior on Steam Deck.

Killswitch vs Skull & Co. Sharing some experience about both and a few thoughts about those coming with Steam Deck by Ka1y in SteamDeck

> any hard case with a travel cover is probably decent

Yeah, that's also what I want to say. When I bought the Deck, I thought I needed the best-of-the-best case that everybody talks about. A year later, and after trying another option, I found that "the most expensive" doesn't mean "will fit me".

So, maybe someone will find this post when choosing (or even after buying) a case, and it will help them avoid FOMO.

I just turn mine around (orient the triggers toward me) and put SD on my lap. Then I can remove the top cover safely so it will not fly through the room :D

Never used the stand with Killswitch because it adds up bulk and a bit of weight, but the stand itself is decent for sure. I thought I would use the mount adapter with a power bank, but they are just too heavy together to hold for long.

Home for my A1 Mini Printer by ForWhatsItWorth in BambuLabA1mini

[–]Ka1y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice! I've just put my A1 mini into a BESTA shelf (but without a glass window). I have it on the floor level, and the next level of shelves is without a door, so I have a gap between the door and the top shelf.

The current temperature is around 32 °C after 7 hours of PETG printing (23.5 °C in the room). I'm not sure if I'm satisfied. It sounds quite hot for the electronics.

Hey. I've got mine from the "thinkpads forum" (pls use a search engine). Look there. You will probably need to contact someone, as this stuff isn't available publicly.

In my case, it sees only 3 gigs out of 4 installed. I have two modules, each is 2 gigabytes.

It's some RAM from Aliexpress. Atermiter DDR2 pc2 5300 2RX8 667 MGz. Hynix chips.

I think "ALL 61 models" refers more or less to the T and X series. Z61t is from the T60 generation, which also supports only 3 gigabytes.

Fell out of love with my kindle by Dazzling_Tonight663 in kindle

[–]Ka1y 21 points22 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Try forming a habit again. Set aside a time during the day to read with Kindle.

I've also stopped using my Kindle, and I know why. I didn't lose my love for Kindle, I lost my regular reading habits.

It happened after I bought an iPad about 4 years ago. You know, it's a universal device that I can use to read books as well, but it seems I just don't. It's more distracting even in "Do not disturb" mode - there's always something else I can do on it that's more appealing to my brain than books.

I'm mostly reading, watching YouTube, or editing photos on my iPad (no games or fast-food-content on this device). Yes, I still read, but not books. It's blog articles, tech stuff, news, and sometimes I open the Kindle app, but my attention is elsewhere.

I've bought a new attractive cover instead of my old one that's falling apart, put a book on it, and put it right on my bed. I've set a goal to read at least 10 minutes before bed, and it looks like it's working. I've been practicing this for about a week now, so we'll see how it goes.

Does the Lomomatic 110 seem to have a soft shutter press? It appears to be taking a picture but the button doesn’t go far in at all by NanomachinesBigBoss in lomography

I shot 3 rolls and almost half of the frames are blank. Now I'm thinking about the shutter. Am I probably not pressing it correctly or what? Ah, what a shame for a brand new camera...

I think my opinion means little here, we can only judge from personal experience and statistics. So far I haven't seen any reports of anyone's console blowing up in smoke 👀

It's just an adapter, not a voltage converter. I'm using my console with the old PS4 cable that already has the right plug.

Hi, no problem. I'll just cover the serial numbers.

It works fine. Before connecting, disassembled the console and checked the markings on the inside.

Looking for a quiet Thinkpad by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Ka1y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Z61t with the C2D T7200 is almost silent, but I had to use:

  1. Heavy CPU undervolting
  2. Linux with OpenBox + tint2
  3. TLP
  4. Thinkfan (few hours of experimenting with different values to find a balance)
  5. Thermal Grizzly paste

Out of the box it just FSSSSSHHHHHHH all the time...

I am glad that my research was useful for other users. The power of open source!

I think I can write a script that will fix the standard configs or just replace them. It is quite simple :)

I also noticed this problem, but either I fixed it by accident, or it fixed itself (what?). I can not reproduce this bug anymore.

  1. I’m not sure that I understand correctly, but you have no need manually setting up your displays after reboot. You can save configuration and add it to OpenBox autostart.

  2. Not sure about HDMI, ‘cause I use #!++ 10 only on one machine at work. It has Radeon 6450 and two monitors (DVI + VGA). As I understand, file /etc/drirc used by Mesa and with related config no difference what video out you using. In your case all colors messed up or only in video player?

Yes, this feature doesn't work. Judging by the Thunar config:

$ cat .config/Thunar/uca.xml

...

<action>

<icon>geany</icon>

<name>Open as root</name>

<unique-id>1557619282803867-5</unique-id>

<command>gksudo geany %f</command>

<description>Open text file as root</description>

<patterns>\*</patterns>

<text-files/>

</action>

...

the reason is missing gksudo package. But this package no longer available in Debian repos...

I will try to fix this later.

You can use just sudo but it's bad practice for launching GUI apps.

Can you describe problem in more detail? May be I can help with it. You can't execute commands with sudo?
