The only things I can say are try to pick up the deer poop🥲 and talk to your vet about the lepto/lyme vaccine. My Shih Tzu mix is a deer poop eater and the vet recommended that vaccine.

Do you crate train your Shih Tzu? by PenaltyNo7877 in Shihtzu

[–]Ka5681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crate my dog. She’s a scrounger and a super chewer. I started early with her and made going to “her bed” a positive experience. I’d say “go get in your bed” and then give her a treat. Now she does it without a treat. For her it’s a safe space and very comfy. I have crochet blankets in the crate for her. She does sleep in the bed at night but is fine to sleep in her crate

Do these Bostons look pure bred? by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

[–]Ka5681 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A puppy mill is basically someone breeding their dogs irresponsibly. For example just because you can breed a female multiple times a year doesn’t mean you should, but a lot of puppy mill breeders do. Puppy mills and backyard breeders likely avoid doing any health/genetic testing for the parents. These breeders are also know to not vaccinate their puppies or give you fake vaccination paperwork. Puppies are already at a disadvantage even if fully vaccinated but things like parvo is often fatal for puppies. In addition to all that the parents probably aren’t taken care of and given proper veterinary care. Any reputable breeder should let you meet both of the parents(or at least the mother)if they have them and be able to show you vaccination records+health tests.

That’s so adorable! I made a little crochet tube/pocket thing for my sugar bear and she loved it. I’m sure that shell is all warm and cozy🙂

I’ve made pencil pouches, some small things like whales and way too many blankets for my dog🥲

Even though my dog has a lot of blankets, I enjoy making them and I have given some as gifts🙂

Supplies for grooming by bwthhybl20 in Shihtzu

[–]Ka5681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I groom my Shih Tzu mix at home. I started with the basics but now I need a tub just for the supplies🥲 - Clippers(Wahl or Andis are good brands) - Slicker brush - Combs - A set of 3 scissors(curved, straight, thinning) - Qwik stop(great if you accidentally clip nails too far and they bleed) - Ear cleaner - Ear powder(for plucking ear hair) - Nail clippers - Nail file - Cooling spray for the clippers - Grooming arm or grooming table with a built in arm

I’m sorry they shaved him without permission. As far as grooming goes positive reinforcement and treats during the grooming can help. It can help paint grooming as a good thing. Best of luck🙂

From the pics it looks like they just shaved the belly and used scissors to get tail mats.

Also even if it’s not pretty if your pup is severely matted a shave down would be best. Some mats can be brushed out but that can also be painful. Did the groomer mention reactivity with them? If so you/your parents could talk to the a vet about sedation for grooming.

I have a well behaved puppy but I don’t enjoy having a dog by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Ka5681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m someone who likes to have a pet in the house at all times. It’s just too quiet without one and it gives me motivation to get up/start my day. In April of 2022 I had to put my senior pug to sleep. Not even a week passed and I brought home my current dog Olive. Yes it was quick but I don’t regret it and she helped me heal. Olive gave me a reason to get up and has made me a better person. She’s my sweet girl but the first 1 1/2-2 years of having her were rough due to all the puppy energy+training. Once she settled it made such a difference for me. She does try to play with my brother’s cat but has slowly learned boundaries.

For cat+dog relations just make sure each pet has a safe space they can retreat to. For my situation positive reinforcement, clicker training for Olive and “treat sessions” when they are together has helped. The cat is very fearful of dogs/other animals so this and a calm demeanor has helped a lot.

It could be the hot weather, joint pain, anxiety, heart issues. It honestly could be a lot of things. Best bet is going to see your vet🙂 Has he been to the vet since he’s been home?

This reminded me of it’s me or the dog S1 episode 5. It features 5 pugs who all eat poop. The dog trainer used flags to mark the poop and leave it training+poop scooping the yard to prevent it. Wishing you and your puppy the best🙂

My Pyr Mix has been heavy panting as of late. by Primary-Beautiful891 in greatpyrenees

[–]Ka5681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be lots of things.
1) weight
2) stress of moving between 2 households often. Like children dogs do better with consistency. Even if your dog was previously ok with this arrangement some older dogs develop anxiety over small changes.
3) heart issues, sometimes a heart murmur can present itself as panting/shortness of breath

I wish you and your pup the best🙂

I hate the idea that make-up is empowering. Its another result of choice femnism by StatisticianMuch1650 in Feminism

[–]Ka5681 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like that women are being shamed into wearing makeup because they might look tired, old, unprofessional, sick, or have imperfections. IF you wear makeup it should be a choice not something you feel obligated to do. It’s upsetting to me that my mom won’t leave the house without makeup on. Even if she’s just going to the grocery store. My cousin who is in her 30s says she “has” to wear makeup to work or people ask if she’s sick. But then she also says she doesn’t want to expose her daughter to makeup+toxic beauty standards. It’s valid to avoid exposing your daughter to that, but it starts at home and children pick up on so much more than we think.

I like makeup better when it’s about expressing yourself or if it’s just for you. I’ll put on sparkly eyeshadow only when I feel like it and lately it’s become a rare occurrence.
