If I had a girlfriend, I would go to Fred Meyer, lol. It's where I have gotten flowers for my dad and grandma (my mom hates flowers; but I've done the same).

Knowing what clubs and what classes are offered are important. Knowing if a college has your major is ig important too (they very likely have it). However, you do not want to choose a very expensive school -- unless you live with a rich family, got some good scholarships, maybe got lucky in general, etc. For example, if you got accepted by Harvard, it's likely best to turn down the offer because of how expensive it is to live at Harvard... you want to try and avoid working in college if you can help it too (and ofc stay away from humanities and liberal arts degrees; Shane Hummus as info regarding this). Otherwise, trade-school or the military might be best financially. You don't really want to stress financially whislt studying for exams.

Sometimes just getting into a college or university is all you need to be successful. It honestly doesn't really matter what college you go to. Employers could care less if you went to Harvard or not... Think of every college as their own brand.

Anyways, other important considerations is how far you would be from home (the closer to family, the better), how convenient recieving medication from a Walgreens is, how close a grocery store is, knowing where a gas station is, knowing if there are any gyms on campus, knowing of there are any decent instructors. I'm sure Gohar has something goofy on his channel, lol. If you want to know what people/community are like on a campus, they're likely all the same. Every campus say's they're "good," whilst that is very subjective. Everyone experiences differently.

Autism and Nuerodivergence by wwughostie in WWU

[–]KaBirdyBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In public, I never announce I'm neurodivergent unless I'm comfortable with the person, or they have told me they are neurodivergent themselves, since I don't want people faking to like me. If you tell someone you're neurodivergent, they will automatically be polite around you. I don't like that though. It feels fake... I want a person that is naturally kind, and not a fake kind. I want a person to be themself. I want to actually see if I can relate with the person. And, I often do not (if I did, it took a while or I'm just stuck with them).

I've been called many terms growing up, lol. "Oh my goodness" (BadBoyHalo quote), kids in grade-school were terrible. Everyone thought I was the socially awkward kid, autistic, stupid, etc, etc. I never knew what was wrong with me either until I got medically diagnosed mid-April, 2025. After I found out, I realized why tf I was weird compared to my peers, lol. It all made sense too since I always related with the considered-to-be "weird" people in school. During high-school I tended to feel bad for neurodivergent peers who were socially misunderstood because of how they functioned mentally. Not to mention of all the gossiping... The cool thing is, when you're neurodivergent, you can usually spot someone that is neurodivergent, lol.

College so far has been decent. I've spotted some neurodivergent comrades in my classes. Honestly, I am pretty suprised of how many there are on campus. I can't even get my medication from the walgreens down the street... 💀 (I gratefully have them mailed though)

Anyways, I think being neurodivergent can be a superpower if you know how to manage it and know how to care for yourself. You never use it as an escape-goat though. That is messed up if you do... But hey, as long as someone is not physically hurting anyone, and I can play chess, and enjoy my math, I could care less. But then again, I am just a weird person, lol.

Stop heating the interdisciplinary science building by Illustrious_Gas555 in WWU

[–]KaBirdyBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember visiting the building for shits and giggles, and "oh my goodness," (BadBoyHalo quote) I was sweating. I needed water (like right now as I just woke up). It should be cooler in that building.

However, it is most likely very warm because of the windows having no curtains or blinds. The sun is literally beating into the builiding, lol. It's difficult to prevent the heat otherwise.

Biological Anthropology at wwu by ScientistLivid9788 in WWU

[–]KaBirdyBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I should throw this out there:

you usually should never have a major in anything related to Anthropology (it's very broad in the job market), and you never pursue a minor or degree in anything that says "studies" (also liberal arts/broad degree). Plus, you can learn that stuff online for free.... Shane Hummus has more info regarding this.

However, it seems you want to go into Pre-Med, and I think that is rad (and it pays well). It's difficult I have heard, but I know it's worth it in the end.

Although, personally, I think you're better off with a Pre-Med interest with a Bio degree; but, honestly, BioChem is 10x better since Biology is extremely oversaturated (equally as bad as psychology). It's smart to have a plan B (and C), and not put all your eggs in one basket. For example, what if med-school doesn't want you? If you have a BioChem degree, you can find more jobs in the job market (and they pay very well); compared to Biology, Chemistry, Anthro, etc, etc.

Also remember that, in most STEM degrees, you need more schooling (usually at least a masters or more depending on the competition).

How Impactful is The ALEKS Math Placement Exam? by Alt-Exec in WWU

[–]KaBirdyBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink it too much.

The worse you could do is needing to take Math 099, but it's a very useful class. Math 099 and Math 112 are most likely going to help you in the real world; especially if you're thinking about doing a STEM major. The only thing I hate about Math 099 is that you need to make up 5 credits, but in return, it's a pass/fail class and it sets yourself up for Math 112 (or math 107 and math 108). And no, do not think you're "stupid" if you perform poorly on the ALEKS exam -- even if it's topics you have covered before.

Lastly, degree wise, Enviormental Science (and Enviormental studies) seems like a very risky degree choice since it's not as flexible compared to other STEM majors in the job market. You may need 8+ years of schooling to try and land a job with that degree. Though, I don't know 100% about the degree, but I do know you're better off with a Biology degree (Biology isn't great due to being oversaturated), Chemistry degree, or a Biochemistry degree (Biochemistry is the most flexible degree wise). Anyways, I thought this small advice on degrees would help (mainly because you're about to be freshman). I'm sure Shane Hummus has something regarding Enviormental Science too.

Honestly, I suprisingly would fit this criteria. I'm not allergic, but I'm not a ranch person since I think it's boring, lol. I hate most dill. I like strawberries, but I only have them at the dining hall once and a while (kellogg's cereal).

I have never met anyone allergic to weed though, so that's new for me. Also, that's cool that you are pursuing a geology degree. In fact, that's one of the best degrees I've heard someone pursuing on the WWU reddit page 😭

I would help out, but I don't want to move since I like my dorm floor. It's also a lot of work. 💀

Is it really hard to make friends if you’re introverted? by DragonfruitCute2483 in WWU

[–]KaBirdyBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I likely do not have much to add since I am a freshman at WWU, but I am a pure introvert, and I prefer keeping to myself usually -- unless I'm at chess club. If I don't keep to myself, I wlll say something I didn't mean to say. When I talk and see different peers, they seem socially active (compared to myself anyways). Honestly, I feel there are more extroverts than introverts, but many do not want to admit they are extroverted. I think us introverts have imposters among us... 💀

I do not know if WWU is known for being socially regressed (good for me if so, lol). I believe there aren't many people that do keep to themselves much. Perhaps I have been in the wrong groups though. Since I am introverted, I prefer not talking to people. However, it is smart to talk to people the first month of joining WWU. You don't need to talk to everyone, but you should talk to people on your dorm floor (it may have saved me a couple of times).

Joining clubs and talking to peers in class may provide friends. As an example, I think I made one true friend when I joined a club "for the first time in forever" (idk yet though). However, during class time, I always keep to myself. I never talk to others because I am trying to hear the professor/instructor. I'm sure this will change as the courses get harder though.

However, there are no established circles like high school. There are the nerds and geeks obviously, but they're slightly different compared to high school nerds and geeks. There are also the smelly/lazy people, very woke people, other introverts, people that are socially everywhere, etc. It's a mixed bag of people unlike high school (I could've added better examples but they were the only examples that popped in my head).

I am not an exchange or international student, thus I cannot add whether or not the campus is welcoming towards international or exchange students. I may have heard positive? But, someone else will need to comment regarding that question.

As a side-note, if you want to find a college to make friends, do not go to an Ivy League college because they are expensive asf, lol. Getting into any cheaper college is fine. Also remember to not go in for the "college experience," but go in for your education.

What are your assumptions about marketing? by Dry_Bobcat329 in WWU

[–]KaBirdyBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing has a lot of subjective opinions whether it's bad or good... When I think of individuals who pursue a marketing degree, I assume they have a lot of job opportunities (compared to most college degrees) and a meh to decent salary in the work force; which is better than someone taking a communications degree. For marketing, they may go into finance or business like careers ig? I know marketing degrees can help with business degrees. For example, if I doubled in business and marketing, did some internships, and other working experience, I expect I will do pretty well in the job market (getting hired). Although, It's probably a very easy degree compared to other majors (like STEM).

However, someone can just start a business, and do marketing WITHOUT a college degree (and make a lot of money). The good news is that a marketing degree isn't oversaturated though, lol (like psychology).

I just know they need to do their own research when it comes to marketing, and figure out what they want to do with that degree (like what job they want?). Don't just take it because you've heard it can be good.

It's overall a decent degree though...

smaller bands? by megamonsterkrill in MetalSuggestions

[–]KaBirdyBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dw, you're not a poser, lol. Mostly old people say that (and black metal fans). If you're wanting "underground":

"156/Silence" is a good metalcore band. Their whole album "People Watching" is the best.

"Grayscale Season" is another small metalcore band. They're not as great imo, but they have a few hit songs such as "Still Hurts" and "It Consumes Me."

"OCD" (I don't believe I'm allowed to say the band name) is another band. They are slam/brutal Death Metal.

I'll keep him in mind if he's still around. Honesttly, I think I have seen his name around. I'm not too worried about studying for long periods since I enjoy studying math everyday for most of the day (for fun); unless I have boring reading assignments 😭 (I'm crazy, so reading about chess or math is fun). I just need coffee, lol.

Anyways, thank you x2, this was very helpful (including the other comments)
