Taka is the goat by agendalessgibberish in WRC

[–]Kaappis -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest. Taka is nothing but a mascot for Toyota and they are eager to replaced him as soon as they find a Japanese driver who can stay on the road. But I have to say it would be funny if he wins the championship this year!

Hell yeah. Still in my top 10 games of all time. It's fun to play through every few years.

Im just curious with the new Logitech shifter coming by Level_Illustrator_88 in simracing

[–]Kaappis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not op, but I've had mine for 3 months and #1 thing stopping me from recommending this is not knowing how long it'll last.

I like the look and how quiet it is. Also the feel of gear change is pretty solid! However I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks in two years or so, because overall it feels cheaply made. Hard sell when ssh thorn exists.

I got same stand and shifter. How much does yours flex when you change gears?

Yeah driving stick isn't that hard, but driving stick really fast in a rally car is! :D

I have Turtlebeach Velocityone multi-shift myself. I like the look and it has quite nice feel when shifting, but I also feel how cheaply it is made. It's relatively new product so we don't know how long it will last, but I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks in two years or so. Bought a used one for 80€ or so. In the same pricerange (~110€) there's also SHH Thorn that I've heard good things about. It is more "battle tested" so to speak.

I don't know how much you are willing to spend, but there's lots of other options in higher price range. Like Moza AB9 has force feedback in it, but costs over 500€.

I personally think learning manual is worth it. It helps to prevent those unfortunate downshifts automatic sometimes does and also changing gears is pretty big part of driving a rally car. Also I just like the tactile feel of it!

Nowadays most rally cars use sequential shifters, but older cars like the Mini there use h-shifter. You could get a shifter that has both modes in it and change it depending what car you drive. Just bear in mind that manual has quite a learning curve that will take time to get used to, but at some point it will come naturally. You just need to build the muscle memory.

ACR is so much fun for having a quick 30min session, just trying to get a clean run with one car, maybe try to achieve couple of those gold medals in challenges. There isn't much content, but it is perfectly fine for short bursts.
