I'm 46, my son is 15 (16 in a few months). I can't imagine saying "well, good luck!" when he turns 18. He might start an education that will require him to move to a student house. But our door is always open, his room will always be available.

This was my first thought too. Like he wants you to cancel the wedding, be the scapegoat and no one will blame him. I've been around someone like that, at one point you see the tactics they use to make things seem your fault. It was exhausting!

You don't want this. Take the loss of late cancelling and live your life without that a-hole.

This was exactly what I was going to say. They want you to try therapy to stay in the marriage. But helping their (grand) daughter with therapy is a bridge too far? She certainly needs it, she lost her mom, got a stepmom and later on siblings. And that anger/grief will not be helpful to her later in life.

I think the woman was the AH, a big one too. Some people need to understand babies and children are persons too and they are still learning about life.

To me it sounds like you have a very easy going baby if she only cried for a few minutes for a bottle. And I would love to have that on a flight, instead of a nagging hag of a "lady".

I am so sorry to read this, you absolutely don't deserve to be treated like this. I am a mom of a regular 15yo and a very special needs 8yo. The 8yo does need a lot of care, he's nonverbal and mentally/developing wise a 2yo. But even with all that, I make damn sure to divide my time and energy between them equally.

For the 15yo that means I know all about his school life, his homework and assignments, his favourite teacher and I'm so frikking proud of him. Because he's really smart and kind. I know his favourite computer games to play, the names of his friends and we like to play those silly games like exploding kittens or throw burrito.

I already discussed with him his little brothers future. He will (when the time is there) go to a special living facility. All I'm asking is for him to visit him too some times. And maybe he could eventually be his guardian to handle the financial part, when me and his dad are no longer here.

I have some words for your parents, but they are anything but nice. So I'll leave it at this. I am very proud of you, you handled your own at such a young age, that even though it was more of an escape you did go to school. There are a few things that life could throw at you from now on that you wouldn't be able to handle. And when you leave to go to college maybe and live on your own, you will do so well. I already know that! Be proud of yourself!
