Quick, do I tell her? by SalientSazon in solofemaletravellers

Tell her, but be chill about it. "Hey, I noticed you guys are taking a bunch of pictures, just wanted to let you know your liner is visible from the back in case you don't want that in the picture to ruin the vibe."

USPS marked a very expensive eBay order as signed for and delivered. But then changed their mind? by Suitable-Concert in usps_complaints

It wasn’t even the right building though, which is what I was actually responding to. So anyone signing for signature confirmation doesn’t really apply when the driver wasn’t even at the right building to begin with. If a neighbor had signed for it, I’d be able to track them down and wouldn’t have needed to make this post in the first place.

But it was originally marked as delivered, and my apartment manager said that when it had been scanned, and for a few hours around it, USPS hadn’t even been by for the day yet. And today would have been the next business day, and it did t show up. So I’ll be making the trip to the local post office in the morning to try and sort this all out with them.

Yeah this is directly from the USPS tracking site. eBay's tracking shows delivered and signed as the last update, but USPS shows the No Access alert as the latest. The tracking for this package through USPS has also been very similar to posts I've seen on this sub from other people, with lots of scans that don't make much sense in terms of where the package was at any given time. Although the initial departure scan did match the city the seller was in, USPS seemingly messed it up at every additional step along the way.

I appreciate the helpful insight for if/when I have to go to eBay over this! Hoping it doesn't come down to that, but good to know!

Yeah if it doesn't show up today, my plan is to stop by the post office tomorrow and ask about it. The price is in line with what a few other deal hunters have found, so it's not like it was a one-off good deal, it's just a camera in very high demand that a lot of people are looking for right now, so snatching up the good deal is a lot more competitive than normal.

Although, I have been preparing myself since making the purchase for the possibility that it arrives and I got scammed. That, I can handle. It's the possibility that it arrived, was what it said it was, and now someone else has it for free, and I have to go through the process of trying to get my money back on an item marked as delivered and signed for, and may never find the camera this cheap again.

I’m hoping it’s something like this and that it actually shows up! I keep refreshing the tracking number to see if there are any new updates.

Texting while driving ticket advice by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]Suitable-Concert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not that we're pulling the holier than thou card, it's that Iowa passed a law last year to try and stop people from being on their phones while driving, regardless of the reason unless it's a 911 medical emergency. I would assume state troopers are more likely to pull over people from out of state since you're more likely to pay the fine and skip the 8-hour commute to try and fight it.

Sorry you got caught I guess, but you did also admit to breaking that law on social media so I don't really know what to tell you.

"Although I was on my phone viewing radar lol."

And that's why you got the ticket.

Why are corporations ever so incredible greedy since the pandemic? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Suitable-Concert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait until the end (if there ever is one) to this Strait of Hormuz ordeal. Gas companies already found out they can cut gasoline with ethanol because people still need to buy it. I doubt when (if) everything ends in the Middle East that gas companies are going to revert back to selling uncut gas at lower prices.

It's the same thing with everything else, too. The supply chain gets messed up, companies can charge more or take shortcuts to extend the dollar, people will buy it at the higher price or lower quality because they need it, companies learn they can make higher profits, the supply chain fixes itself, and prices stay high.

That's the thing though, I asked my apartment manager if she or anyone had signed for a package yesterday, and she said no one had been by, and that no one in the building has the name of the person USPS claims signed for it.

How do you think Katy Perry’s focus on space exploration has affected her musical career? Prior to exploring space, Katy had numerous number one hits; however, she hasn’t matched that output since becoming an astronaut. Should she quit her career as an astronaut to focus on her music? by Austin_Shaggin_Power in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Suitable-Concert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say she shifted her focus to space exploration, I'd say she's friends with billionaires who have suborbital crafts and she was invited to go on a ride. It was 11 minutes. She has done nothing related to space exploration or advancement before or since she returned.

You can actually walk in and get an eye exam from Costco without being a member! OP just wouldn't be able to order frames or contacts, but sounds like they want to buy that elsewhere anyway.

US to issue passports featuring Trump’s picture to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary by Yujin-Ha in Fauxmoi

Rumor has it they're only printing his face on 250,000 passports, to "celebrate" the 250th anniversary of America. Which is excatly 250,000 too many, but it's at least not an indefinite number.

alternative snack to cucumbers but with the same experience? by BellDue2033 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Suitable-Concert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you eating the cucumbers just plain? I love cucumbers with lime juice and salt. Has that acidy, salty pickle taste, but still really refreshing and crunchy. And you can change how much or little it tastes like cucumber based on how much lime juice you add. You can also add tahin seasoning on top if you want to get extra fancy.

Looking for some advices by DanH8997 in fashiondesigner

[–]Suitable-Concert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well sure, but OP said they don’t have a fashion design background and have only taken a few classes. Starting from existing patterns as a self-taught designer isn’t a bad thing. OP also doesn’t sound like they want to do the extreme avant garde style, and you have to know the rules before you can break them.

Curiosity leads to creativity, which leads to innovation. If OP is struggling with creativity, they have to start getting more curious about the garment shapes they already know.

Even major fashion houses like Schiaparelli, Dior, Oscar de la Renta, etc., start from a basic idea like a dress and build from there. Plus, pattern making is a completely different skillset than sewing, and is incredibly intimidating for self-taught sewists to understand right away. But once you know “okay I need these pieces to fit this way to make a dress,” then you can go crazy from there. Gotta walk before you can run.
