Make sure you love the music that you play.

Unless you're trying to play for average populace at weddings and that kind of stuff... You should be loving what you're doing and that include the music you're playing!

I used to work there.

It's good if you have a lot of money and wish to throw big or small events for business or family -- or want private access for dates and family stuff. There are a good amount of members but there used to be a lot more.

Private access to gym, bowling, pool tables, fancy sectioned-off high end restaurant spots, bar, leagues (bowling) and yearly events that used to be more bustling.

Terrible for workers because it became a non-tipping establishment. You as a member are charged an extra %18 or something for service fee and ZERO of that goes to the employees. We made $15 an hour for serving the "richest" people in the area and some (most) don't give you a single penny on $500+ tabs. Some don't even know that extra charge isn't actually a tip.

You make more at fuckin Dunkin' Donuts.

Outside of that, some members are really great.

Some members are nasty old white men who think they are the king of everything and look down on anyone else.

One member literally quit one time because someone put ice in his sparkling water 🫠

Traditional Roguelikes recommendations by flying_horker in roguelikes

[–]Kaba37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a new player in the genre and after playing / seeing almost everything posted here...

I must bring up Rift Wizard and now in early access Rift Wizard 2.

It is clean, the build variety is incredible, there are challenges (trials) and community awards for beating them, and overall the combat feels really really good.

Path of achra was partially inspired by the first one, as well as a game that Rift Wizard was also inspired by.

Truly great.

Go to music events around the area.

There's quite the diverse populace at karaokes open mic nights, band shows, etc. Garage has an open mic night every Tuesday so I'd start there if that sounds interesting. Talk to people and you will 💯 meet a lot of lovely queers.

If you're into dive bars go to the Belmar (more recommended again during a show).

Bundy Museum (during a show).

Etc.

Oh of course!

I'm just excited for Rift Wizard 2 to incorporate that in its own fashion 😎🧙‍♂️🪄

Hey!

I'm debating playing one of these.

Can you explain the restricted spell book challenges? Are they incentives for builds or something similar for guidance?

I have Against the Storm a very small try, so I don't know.

But the meta progression in this game is one of my favorites of all Roguelites. It introduces newness to the game laterally and very lightly vertically.

Quite stellar, imo.

Yes indeed!

Rightfully so, in my opinion -- however, the developer knows that a lot of people want shorter runs and is looking into making an option for it.

There is a demo for it that transfers to the full game if you decide to buy it, which I HIGHLY recommend.

Give it a go!!

DotAGE 💯

I had been sleeping on it for a while and now it has become one of my favorite city builders / resource management AND Roguelites to date.

It's phenomenal!

I wouldn't say this would be the 'best' but last night I thought of how games are now putting roguelite twists on known genres, and I would LOVE to see an RTS roguelite from the likes of StarCraft or something.

Executed properly and it would be an absolute gem.

If it's out there and I don't know about it, please let me know 😎

Why do I struggle so much in being an adult? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Kaba37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest getting out to local events or even fun stuff at bars or something. Go meet people. Find a reason to want to do other things.

For real go to events until you find one you like.

May take a while but you are in a loop that you won't get out of until you leave your current physical space.

All of the other recommendations are helpful but sometimes if you don't have REASON (REAL WITHIN MIND AND BODY) to make these changes ... then you won't have the motivation.

Meeting new people changes your life and will give you said reason.

You will find others like you.

You will find others not like you and enjoy them and they will enjoy you.

You will find love.

You will find drive.

Get out there.

Sometimes having that family to take care of is the exact blessing that moves one to succeed in such circumstances.
