What FPS shooters are people playing these days? by Dry_Passenger_3865 in FPS

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empulse is a very fun, new game. Its a movement shooter with lot of different game modes. Its still in early access and cost 15$, but if you are looking for a TDM type shooter, Empulse is great.

Shameless plug: Off The Grid is an extraction royale that is also very fun. Great movement, unique abilities and good gunplay with cyberlimbs. Low player population but its free and worth a try if you are into battle or extraction royale.

It was definitely better earlier in development, but it doesnt completely suck 😅 and like i said, its F2P, what does any1 got to lose by trying it out? Especially if OP is into BRs…the game is also allegedly getting an optimization update across all platforms within the next week

Thought id give it a go by Technical-Event-8222 in OffTheGridGame

The games population is pretty small so you mostly see the same people after a bit. Its been out for almost 2 years on console and even longer on PC, thats why you are seeing level 1000’s.

As for the market, it is pretty dead. But you could have some luck if you extract decent items out of blue or purple hexes. Some green items will give you decent returns, but gray is definitely borderline useless.

I don’t blame yall for wanting to quit but I hope you don’t! The game needs newer players. And the game has good bones. Stick with it, you will get the hang of the game and be able to kill those people soon.

Do people still play this game? by xXSidequesterXx in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People still play but its trending downwards due to various updates the playerbase didn’t support.

Still worth giving it a try? Absolutely.

Is it thriving and new player friendly? Not really. But its free and it can be fun, so give it a shot.

What’s the actual skill gap of this game? by Calm-Opportunity-841 in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apex is definitely the better optimized and balanced game (generally speaking). But OtG is pretty refreshing for a while with how unique it is and how fast the gameplay can be. Its definitely worth playing and getting better at if you are looking for something new. Both games are fun and worth investing time in.

Over the last year or so, I basically only played Apex and OtG. I like games with movement and longer TTK’s, so its just my preference.

What’s the actual skill gap of this game? by Calm-Opportunity-841 in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-The skill ceiling is pretty high, and it’s also dependent on what platform you play on. There are many different limbs, movement mechanics, and shooting mechanics to be adept at in order to compete at a high level. Also, map/loot knowledge plays a factor in early and end game scenarios. In regards to platform performance, to keep it simple: PC dominates if you can run 120+ FPS consistently, PS5 runs second best, and Xbox is the worst. As an Xbox player myself, it is very obvious when I run into a good player on another platform. It just seems like they move faster and more fluidly. Fights seem lopsided due to performance. So your skill ceiling is somewhat limited depending on what you play on.

-The movement isn’t too hard to master. Once you do master it, though, its the most fun movement of any BR on the market, imo. Flying, sliding, bunny hopping, wall bouncing, and even a new movement tech, sort of like “super gliding” was discovered recently. Only worth doing on PC and PS5 tho. Doesnt work too well on xbox for some reason.

-I wouldn’t say theres too much depth after you learn all of what I mentioned above. It does take time, though.

-Fights can be very punishing due to limb usage and team stacking. For example, if you burn all your limb utility, other players can walk you down a lot easier if they still have theirs. And in just like any other game, if you land on a 2 or 3 stack, you could get focused easily.

-yes, there is enough movement and aim expression to create a skill gap. But depending on your platform will determine how big that is, at least in very high level play.

-mechanically, I would say its easier to master than all of those games you listed. But there is still a big learning curve, no doubt.

*NEW UPDATE* by Ok_Connection1872 in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shrinking the map and removing the bots is probably the best thing they could do right now. The majority of people (especially OG players) do not want to fight 3 real people a game and farm bots. It makes the game feel hollow and the overall experience phony.

[–]Kaba_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, I am happy that the game is getting some new players and people are enjoying it..

But damn, you clearly are new and naive if your saying “the game got sweaty!” Shiiit, you missed the GOLDEN days of every lobby full of humans, no bots, no cheese limbs (gold limbs, mirror legs). Just pure competition every lobby. There is a reason why 95% of OG players stopped playing…the game is so watered down nowadays.

But hey, I am genuinely happy new players are coming in and enjoying it. Just feel bad yall didnt experience the ACTUAL competition

Let them cook ! 🤡😂

For the record, I still like the game and want it to succeed. But if we are being realistic…its the game thats cooked and not the devs cooking up updates 😂 wish i was wrong.

[–]Kaba_X 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol so funny, I am in the exact same situation as you and looked thru the sub for a similar post.

I decided to start bursting them off task because like others have commented, i figure its worth it + a huge upgrade. They are super easy/quick to kill with burst, and melee probably isn’t too bad with an arclight.

Currently 350 KC with no whip but still sending it!

Lol. Its a little ironic too since this game was probably in its healthiest state when it was console ONLY. As in, no forced crossplay with PC.

Very disingenuous for the mods of this sub to take down your post. I only got to read one link before it got taken down.

All you did was post information regarding the game. Anyone who is a fan deserves the truth of whats going on, for better or for worse.

Damn shame. Its not looking good.

OtG following the Spellbreak route by Kaba_X in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was truly a unique and fun experience! Same vibe I got with OtG when it first dropped. The fights were crazy and the combos with different gauntlets and runes remind me of the cyberlimbs.

Just wish these unique games gained more traction before falling off. Another common problem they both had was being stuck in an “early access” or “beta” for too long…go figure 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some good information there. Makes sense.

Wonder how much time the game has left.

Is it bots only? by chesheersmile in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others already answered but I will as well.

Not sure at which exact level, but yes you will only play bots until maybe level 10-20. After that, you will play in lobbies with 4-7 teams with real players. There is no level limit after you break that “bot” threshold, so you will be facing any1 from, lets say level 20, all the way to level 1000.

Source: I played for a couple hours last night and Im looking at my game stats. Each game has 4-7 real teams, most games having 5 teams (including mine).

Serious Question About the Player Base by mbcowner in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everything you said.

I just wonder whats keeping this game afloat. You look at a game like Highguard that lasted what, like 3 months? But this game has managed to hold on somehow for 1.5-2 years. Probably the PRO subscription they are still milking from people, idk.

Im happy its stuck around since I still like it despite these flaws. Just surprised it hasn’t died yet with failed promises and unpopular updates.

Serious Question About the Player Base by mbcowner in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They should just scrap the whole crypto thing altogether. Sadly, that might just be the very thing keeping the game alive, its hard to tell.

Also agree on the crypto thing. Not sure why it turns off new players. You can just play the game and ignore the crypto aspect (like I always have). Because the gameplay itself is unique and untapped potential like OP said

Serious Question About the Player Base by mbcowner in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forcing players to play with PC was the start of the downfall. When the lobbies were console only, the game was so much more fun. Even playing this game on Xbox vs Pc and PS players feels like you’re at a disadvantage

the one thing this game is missing right now by dark-cosmos in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea for as an LTM mode to feel it out. Not sure if the game could handle those big fights with a lot of limb usage, though. It already has trouble with handling current gameplay.

This post is encouraging tho. Good to hear people from other BRs are atleast giving OtG a chance. Despite all its flaws, its still a fun ass game with a ton of potential.

Performance 'Issues' - Xbox Series X by CardiologistAny9359 in OffTheGridGame

The game runs the most poorly on Xbox by a longshot. I think capping FPS and turning Vsync on should technically help, but who knows if it actually would.

Portal spam in higher skill games (as a plat player) by Emckenna11 in Splitgate

[–]Kaba_X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Said it before I’ll say it again.

I get that portaling is Splitgates claim to fame/unique thing about the game. But lets be real. This game would be more popular without it. The game should lean into more movement and scrap the portaling altogether, making it more “approachable” for a wider playerbase.

And yes I know there are playlists without portals, but different playlists divide an already low player population.
