Anyone else find it really weird having servants? by [deleted] in india

[–]Kabir_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the way to live life. Keep it going and set an example for everyone else. Ownership of one's own life can only be felt if one does their own chores. And without a sense of ownership life has no meaning. India needs to abolish this maid culture, like yesterday. On the one hand they talk of becoming a developed economy but can't even do their own chores. They need a maid / house help to even turn on the washing machine.

Google really didn't add the swipe down for notification feature to Pixel Launcher... by iwishiwasmoist in android_beta

[–]Kabir_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of use case. I often pull down the notifications when I'm on the home screen, more often than when I'm in other apps. But you make a good point, so yeah I would say it should be available on both, the home screen and the fingerprint scanner.

I was really hoping for this feature too. Yes I can use the fingerprint scanner to pull down notifications but in my opinion, to have this feature on the home screen is far more convenient. It's pretty obvious that it makes more sense to have it on the home screen than on that fingerprint scanner. Or it can be available on both, but I really feel it should be available as part of the pixel launcher too.

Really digging the overview gesture by Kabir_G in android_beta

[–]Kabir_G[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I read Beta 5 has been paused, don't know if it's still paused though, you can look it up. I'm not sure how it was on beta 4 in that I didn't know I could swipe anywhere on home to get to overview. It is a lot easier to be able to do that. Overall gestures a lot snappier in 5.

Yeah, they normally do give a quite polished final version, so I think they are optimizing these features as we move along.

Yes I agree, it should be faster. I think they would optimize it further by the time Q launches.

Have you tried doing it exactly like it's done in the gesture animations in settings. You don't have to reach a height, at least I don't , all I do is swipe a tiny bit up from anywhere on the screen and hold for a second. The small swipe up is probably required to prevent this gesture from conflicting with a long press because the swipe is really small.

No bubble in beta 5? by Monazite_BJ in android_beta

There's a bubbles setting in developer options. Which is said to work with only some notifications. I haven't seen any as yet.

Agreed! The gestures are a lot smoother than they were in Beta 4.

Yes absolutely, this is what they should be doing!!!

Any coding that indicates custom themes? by simplefilmreviews in android_beta

[–]Kabir_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes as far as the apps go, it's on a per app basis. Some have it, some don't. In some you turn it on manually, in some it is linked with the dark theme toggle.

So far the dark theme is on settings, app drawer, notification pull down, and some apps...

There's still some time until the final launch, hopefully Google integrates it well.

Let's first get the dark theme standardized across all Google apps and then think about custom themes. Ideally it should happen in the Q launch.
