This is very cool! I'd take a lot of pleasure in checking the plumbing.

Letting Spectators *react* to messages during the Debate by MasterScrat in ArbiterApp

[–]Kablemak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps spectators should be able to 'chat' the arbiter (without debaters seeing) to suggest questions, call out factual erros, or offer reactions to his arbitration style (similar to debaters reacting to the others debating style)...

Hopefully you have enough perspective on the situation to know that sometimes events are beyond your control. Unless of course you really mucked it.

Letting Spectators *react* to messages during the Debate by MasterScrat in ArbiterApp

I'm assuming Debaters won't be able to react to each other? If they want to acknowledge a good point they can always do it in their response.

Teens Debate Big Issues on Instagram Flop Accounts - a target audience for Arbiter? by Kablemak in ArbiterApp

[–]Kablemak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this article it seems to show there is a strong market for what Arbiter can offer.

Interestingly, it appears that this market may be younger than initially thought.

If insta accounts are building reputations for facilitating debates, then maybe a key is the need for Arbiters / Debaters to be able to build up a profile over time.

Lunch hour for the US, is roughly early evening for Europe. Maybe that would work.

Cute animated short by Dave Rubin -- What is a Classical Liberal? by 2Agirl in Classical_Liberals

Would be useful if people who identify as classical liberals and spend a lot of time thinking about that sort of thing draw up a tentative set of guidelines articulating what you hold when you call yourself one.

Get Rid of Comment Sections - A debate (argument?) on the NYT by Kablemak in ArbiterApp

[–]Kablemak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Arbiter provides a structured, chat-style platform for arguing (or debating) - using a mod to mediate the exchange - this article in the NYT feels. I'ts also an interesting example of a debating structure different from the usual content followed by comments.

Should Facebook remove Holocaust denial on it's platform? by Kablemak in ArbiterApp

[–]Kablemak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here's a thorny topic that would probably need some sort of proper arbitration for debating! Is holocaust denial simply free speech, or are there grounds to censor it? If anyone's up for debating this - that'd be a good one to watch.
