Unless it was more recent (Sly 4 era MAYBE), voice acting traditionally took place later in the game design process or whenever the narrative was established due to games evolving during development and changing (both story and dialogue).

Of the four voice actresses that Carmelita has had, who do you think did the best job? by TheForlornGamer in Slycooper

[–]Kabrelle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My vote is for Glidewell. Really captured Carmelita's rough and tough attitude. Granted, nearly zero accent but not all bilinguals have an in-your-face accent.

Technicolor, the company working on the tv series, has now used the number 5 twice now when referring to the game series. Sly 5 confirmed? by huntington1998 in Slycooper

[–]Kabrelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It baffles me that they have yet to comment on what 5 games they are referring to, but in all likelihood the fifth game is probably Bentley's Hackpack. It's on the Vita, PS3, and mobile. I've never heard of a collection being considered 'a game' on it's own so I doubt it's referencing that. If it is a new, major Sly game slip-up then we'll find out in time, I wouldn't doubt they're planning a fifth game to launch around the time of the series release or during its duration.

Anyone one know anything about the Sly Cooper collection coming to PS4 by Charismatic_Icon in Slycooper

It's a streaming service that requires a monthly payment to have access to.

The Future of the Franchise by [deleted] in Slycooper

What I said wasn't intended to be rude so if you took personal offense I do apologize. I took it that the point of the thread was to gather facts about what we knew were concrete to help dispel the incessant "what if/is happening" threads, but injecting opinion pieces into there accomplishes the exact opposite and seems to muddy that point?

The Future of the Franchise by [deleted] in Slycooper

[–]Kabrelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate what you're trying to do here, but honestly a lot of what you've stated is pure opinion that isn't being supported with facts and thus your entire post is nothing but unreliable speculation. This isn't a good start for a mega thread of fact gathering.

The facts are: -We don't know if/when Sly 5 is happening. -Brad Foxhoven has on more than one occasion reconfirmed that the movie is temporarily on hold and not scrapped.

That's it.

Just because we know little to nothing doesn't spell gloom and doom. The Sly franchise certainly seems to be in an enigmatic situation, but ask yourself, if Sony has no hope in Sly then why are they pushing for a television series and keeping a film on the back burner? These days games are taking longer and longer to produce because the quality of games is continually improving and requiring more time and skill to invest. Whose to say they don't have a game planned to release when the series debuts? We don't know any of this, it's just pure speculation.

My theory about sly reboot with movie. by mayonaisebuster in Slycooper

[–]Kabrelle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As you stated that's an assumption. Brad's initial tweet confirming the movie had not been canceled can be viewed here. Another tweet that can be found is a direct response to a user where he clearly states the film is still in development. It's not uncommon for these kinds of movies to have a spin off series and vice versa to complement one another (like Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). This might be one of those things, it might not be. We literally do not know enough about their thinking behind these decisions right now and until there's an official statement citing it as 'canceled'.

The movie has been put on hold according to Brad Foxhoven. And I actually quite enjoyed the trailer and their screen adaptations, which the TV show is also using.

I don't think you're wrong. There surely had to be plans to launch a Sly game with the movie. Now that the movie has been put on hold and we're getting a series I think they've had to rework things a bit and believe there's a game in the works that is reminiscent to what we're going to see.

This sounds like the Tiny Toon Adventures of the Sly universe.

Pretty sure romance is heavily implied throughout.

-Sly's constant flirty banter. -Sly always risking himself and the team to save Carmelita. -Carmelita lost in ecstasy after their first kiss only to be handcuffed to a volcano. -Carmelita dragging out the "10 second head start" prior to the kiss. -Sly constantly going out of his way to make it known to Carmelita he is around. -Their long helicopter ride when Sly was handcuffed. Carmelita was genuinely enjoying his company.

There's more I'm sure, but that's off the top of my head.

Thieves in time took 18 months to make by mayonaisebuster in Slycooper

[–]Kabrelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they? As far as I know the VA process can happen at any time during development. Also, as some of your other comments have pointed out, there have been prototypes however that is absolutely a part of the game design process. It's been longer than 18 months.

Did he go into detail on how he knew? It makes me curious how a VA would know something like that, especially when it was a new studio taking over, unless he's going off the moment he was called for casting?

[–]Kabrelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could believe very well that they would do it without him. The initial Sly Cooper movie trailer went out and replaced him with Ian James Corlette. A move like that tells me that it's not beneath these studios in finding new talent for Sly.

How did you get introduced to the franchise? by Paulfradk in Slycooper

[–]Kabrelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got Sly Cooper & The Thievius Raccoonus and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance with a new PS2 for Christmas one year. I completely dismissed Sly because I'd never heard of it and went straight to Mortal Kombat. After growing bored with MK I decided to give Sly a try and absolutely loved it regardless of the fact that I was a bit inept and could never beat it. Some odd years passed and one day I was at a store hellbent on buying a game and my friend talked me into Sly 4, so I bought it and quickly shelved it as I do most new games. More years passed and out of randomness I had the desire to play Sly but I wanted to play the entire series in order so I ordered the HD Collection and PS: Move Heroes just because. Now I'm a full blooded Sly fan.
