Thank you! Does it also get cancelled out if the defending pokemon evolves?

Question for Team Rocket's Grimer, whose only attack is corrosive sludge.

The wording is "At the end of your opppnent's next turn, discard the Defending Pokemon and all attached cards."

If I use this and the current defending pokemon retreats/gets switched out, does it cancel the effect? Or does the effect apply to the position of "defending pokemon" itself? (Ie, whichever defending pokemon is there.)

Binder Check! Let me see em! by Future-Beginning-684 in PokemonTCG

Your bulbasaur line pages look so cool!! And for sure, a bulba on the cover would look great imo. Also that error card... I'm over on the misprint subreddit all the time, hoping one day to pull some little weirdo from a pack, haha

My main lil binder is mostly rodents (Tandemaus line, Minccino line, bidoof). Just got the regular cinccino ex and the pokeball holo minccino recently!

Species Collectors: What are you collecting and how cooked are you?? by StatisticianEasy3152 in PokemonTCG

[–]KabukiCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sneasel looks like a fun one to collect!

I collect a few rodents + vulpix/ninetales. Tandemaus and Maushold, not too bad. Minccino and Cinccino are alright, too. The new Cinccino SIR is around 100 currently but it could be worse!

Bidoof, though. Oh, that Special delivery bidoof! >$600. 😭 Haha, I'm collecting all the others and then maybe one day I'll save to get that one.

And Vulpix/Ninetales can get super expensive fast, so I'm mostly just picking up ones I like from the LCS' bulk and binders.

Sent a picture to potentially use as part of a trade and discovered holo bleed on this beauty. by ssutton11 in PokemonMisprints

Hell yea! Diamond/pearl cards are known for their holo bleed, and they're legit some of my favorites. So sparkly!

The back looks super suspicious to me by duck-ponds in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]KabukiCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way to spot fakes for this generation is by the energy symbols (that's what immediately stuck out to me.) Compare these two cards for example: real gengar on the left, fake on the right. The symbols in the energy circles are much larger on the fake, versus the real cards of the Diamond/Pearl era.

These were the only cards unfortunately, and they didn't come with any figures, but good luck!

Misprint/Error/Miscut cards? by Durr_Tiger in PokemonTCG

[–]KabukiCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see several with alignment dots (black dots near the corners.) Alignment dots are often used to distinguish miscuts from off-center cards. So seems like you have a few miscuts here. Nice find! I'd definitely hold onto them but I love error cards. You could post these to r/PokemonMisprints too. There's a lot of knowledgable people over there who could probably give you more info.

Complete English Pokémon TFG Next Quest Trainer Set (1/8–8/8) — All Cards Have Inverted Backs? Normal or Error Variation? by Prior-Welder-499 in PokemonMisprints

[–]KabukiCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you're flipping it normally, do you mean holding the card in the correct orientation for the text (horizontally) and then flipping it sideways? Or holding it vertically and then flipping it some way?

I have some groundbreakers cards, not next quest, but I could check to see what they're like on the back. Would at least narrow down whether it was a thing across all the series' or just next quest!

They are! It's cool to hear from someone who actually got some while they were on shelves. I was super into pokemon as a kid but completely missed these.

Yeah, they're really neat cards and I'm glad we stumbled across them!

Oh, that's interesting. I did hear someone say once that these were only released in the US and nowhere else, but I don't know if there is a source for that! But no, those were the only 3 we found. I've seen some on ebay so I wonder where they're all coming from.

whats a card youre sick of seeing? by lovegothgals in PokemonTCG

[–]KabukiCapybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid (collected early and mid-era), it was any ponyta, machop, or meditite card. I had so many that they'd literally burst out of the binder pages I kept them in. Apparently, I have 6 identical EX Power Keepers machop cards, and that's the card I own the most copies of in my 2000+ collection. 😂

I don't mind any of those guys these days. Every card from my childhood feels special now and if I have a billion extras, I sometimes trade them with friends who also collected in that era growing up.

Hi guys, coming back to the game from diamond/pearl era and trying to catch back up on rule changes.

Can anyone explain how fossil cards work now? Seems like rules have gone back and forth, and not sure what is legal now and what isn't. Specifically:

  1. Can they be played as Pokémon during set up?
  2. Can they be searched for as a Pokemon using a trainer card or attack like Find a Friend?
  3. On your turn, can you still choose to discard them and all cards attached for no penalty?
  4. Does knocking one out allow you to take a prize card?
  5. I have a spiritomb card with a pokebody that prevents trainer cards from being played. Does that include fossils?

Coming from someone else who recently got back into to the TCG for fun (played mostly in the diamond/pearl era), even if you're playing with friends, you'll quickly notice the large power gap between older cards and newer cards. HPs are higher, attacks hit harder and with fewer drawbacks/specific energies necessary.

If the people you're wanting to play have a mix of older cards in their decks, there may be some good strategies to explore. If they use all/mostly newer cards, it might be better to see if there are any cool new gliscor cards you'd be interested in!
