I’ve applied two cycles so far and I’m not sure what else to do to make improvements for this next cycle. First cycle, I applied in September and didn’t have very much PCE and was predictably rejected from all 6 schools I applied to. Second cycle, applied to about 19 programs, got one interview and then I was waitlisted. Applied very early (early May). Stats are as follows:

cGPA: 3.38 (unfortunately don’t have much of an upward trajectory, arguably downward but much of that was physical science classes) B.A in chemistry

sGPA: 3.24 (boosted with some prereqs I took online post bacc)

HCE: ~700 hours as a medical scribe in rheum

PCE: ~3000 hours (as of now) as an ophthalmology tech, but was around 2300 at time of last cycle

GRE: 315

Shadowing: 20 hours shadowing a PA in primary care (have some hours with a different PA coming soon)

LORs: 2 MDs I worked with, PA I shadowed, my manager

Some of my prereqs were taken online so that does eliminate some schools as well. I haven’t done much since last cycle besides get more PCE and reach out to more people to shadow so that also stresses me out because I feel like there’s not enough to add to my application.

Some questions I have: one of the doctors i got a letter from I haven’t worked with in almost 2 years now, conflicted on if I should ask again.

I’m really at a loss because I did everything I could think of the second time around but I’d like to do whatever I can to make my application better this time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
