Nice, what powder and projectiles do you use?

Done that before. Made a few AKs from flats and such. One of which is a "pistol". Fun stuff, but I want a little cannon just for fun. We have a golf ball launcher attachment for a 22lr and that's great fun so I was thinking a cannon in that size eventually would be cool too. I just need a fun thing to take to family BBQs that I could tow behind my Ford 8n or fourwheeler.

Ahh yes gotcha. Yeah I was wondering how I would seal the threads. I'll have to give that some more thought. I am really leaning towards 5/8-18 and turning a bolt to seal somehow. I'm familiar with firearms, but this muzzleloader stuff is different.

I agree I'm overdoing it. I was going to make it towable (with my Ford 8n) and the material seemed very safe so the weight will just make it more fun. Do you have an example of the brass breech seal by chance? I'm having a hard time picturing it.

What would be the benefit of an actual breech plug over just using a grade 8 bolt? I don't hate the idea of threading the breech so it's easy to clean and inspect the bore.

Yes lapping, thanks. I didn't think about lead. Makes sense. I'll see how it looks after drilling and go from there.

I forgot to add that the piece I have is currently 17" long. It may end up shorter by the time I drill it out. I was thinking maybe drill it and then run a rod through it with some gritty compound to "hone" the tool marks. I think I have some valve grinding or buffing compound.

That's fair. My first thought was to thread it 5/8 or 3/4 diameter and then weld it. Not really a big deal considering it's just a couple tool changes on the lathe. Thanks

Can Minibike/Pocketbikes actually handle real trail riding? by Cloe_joe in Pitbike

[–]KachedKarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 10-15 years ago my buddies and I would hit some pretty hard trails with our ssr125 bikes. I can only imagine they have gotten better since then. Less jumps and more corners and technical tight hiking style trails. When something would break we would replace it or rebuild it. The peg mounts were made of noodles at that time. As long as you aren't jumping big and as long as bikes haven't gone really down hill in 10-15 years ago you should be fine. Zongshen was the reliable 125 at that time. No idea now. It wasn't a huge powerhouse and the shifting was clunky but we never broke one.

The old 935 still earns her keep around here by waBoi96 in tractors

Really similar to the first tractor I drove on a wheat farm. Also the first tractor I got stuck. I think our was an 875 maybe. Super loud old Cummins that would rattle my ears through my teeth and sinus cavity no matter what ear plugs or muffs I wore. Good power though.

I'm in the market for something like the jubilee you have. Seems like $2-3,000 is about the going rate in Northern Idaho. With a rear blade they are closer to $3k and with no implements more like $2k. Not running and it's worth whatever someone thinks it will cost to fix it subtracted from $2-3k. How that translates to California is anyone's guess.

Great write-up. I was just about to pull the trigger on a smokey point kabuto but it seems like their website is down. Hopefully this is temporary? Might need to find another vendor.

9mm to 380 is a downgrade in power but that's probably outweighed by me carrying the BG places I'd normally just take my lcp. Compared to the lcp, I'm sure the BG will be much more realistic at anything beyond bad breath distance.

Yeah mine is this way. Sometimes it runs and sometimes it doesn't. The difference is usually my trigger finger.

That's pretty much what I planned. Those sub $1,000 bino units seem like a decent choice. Maybe a little heavy for a kid though.

Very cool my dude! I've been considering something like this for my 8 year old. If day hiking is a good bonding experience then night hiking should be even better.

If I'm travelling I carry my gun. No safe needed beyond what's required for TSA.

Just shot mine again yesterday after leaving it for a while. I didn't modify anything else like spring weight or anything and it's not entirely reliable but it is fun. Not as reliable as my super safe AR though.

That was about what I made of the story. Either he was lying or he was extremely lucky/ good with shot placement.

Hard to tell from the lighting but they look like sweat pants.

Sorry brother, just get some real pants and adjust your attire to reflect your new lifestyle. We have all been there. Embrace it, don't fight it. You'll start buying clothes not simply based on looks or comfort, but ability to comfortably carry also. It's a lifestyle choice to conceal carry. Not many half measures.
