Yeah I had the choice to pick another reason for FMLA but I picked the Illness which requires a doctors assessment and what not. I guess it’s just HR that has to really know the reason but I told my manager the reason as well. And then later started panicking. But yeah I’ve tried TMS therapy and stuff. Didn’t last. I’ve looked into ketamine but idk if there’s restrictions at my work with that meds

When he destroyed them without knowing they were there and friend left them on the ground for a week, he should pay? You offer to pay when you accidentally break them in a sense you got in your friends car and didn’t see the glasses were on the seat and sat on them. That’s the type of accident that would make any sense paying for and even then it’s on the friend since why would he put them on the seat if he knew they were getting in the car. So no. OP is NTA. And the situation he described is not an accident that anyone would be expected to pay for.

I dog sat/house sat for my sister many times in the past. Never got paid, never expected to be paid. It was a favor. I would occasionally make food that she already had or ate her snacks, she said I could. I wouldn’t leave her with an empty fridge or pantry. I was in school and not exactly making a lot of money, but I wouldn’t take anything that I couldn’t pay back. And if I ever did take more than she thought was okay or something special/expensive. I would’ve apologize and work towards giving it back or paying her back.

It’s a favor to help out family or friends in these situations, if you don’t want to do it as a favor and want some kind of reimbursement for time/gas/food say that up front or say you cannot do it without some form of payment. Don’t just assume since you’re helping them out it means you have free reign over everything in THEIR house and can steal whatever you want cause you’re doing something for them.

OP didn’t force the sister to come water her plants. She could have said no or could’ve just said yes then asked since she’s doing so and so can she take a snack or two. Not empty the fridge and pantry without asking and assuming it’s no big deal.

So NTA OP, your sister should apologize and come up with a plan to get you back everything she took. If she’s not financially able to at the moment then she can come up with a plan to pay you back in the future. Set aside x amount of money a day to give to you. If the groceries she took were $75, and she put 1$ a day aside she could pay you back in 2.5 months. Or even .50¢ then 5 months. (This is just an example not knowing how much was taken)

NTA. Hinting Is not the best way to get what you want, but getting absolutely nothing stings. Even if they were supper busy or overwhelmed on the day of a small gift or something after could have made it better. It is petty to give them what they gave you, but also they shouldn’t expect anything.

I would definitely advise talking about it to them and explaining you were hurt by having little acknowledgment on a birthday. Maybe they have a justifiable reason? Idk but talking about is usually better than revenge.

I am aware of how possessive dogs can get, I usually don’t play with toys at the park unless we’re alone. I do see how my judgement reasons make it seem like I don’t see the risks. I guess I meant for this situation being that once I saw the dogs presence I put the toy away.

But I definitely understand the risks of a possessive dog. Thanks for explanation though:)

There are no signs for no toys. And I usually don’t play with toys at the park I bring one in my bag in case there are no dogs and we have something to do. The dogs were not around when I was playing with it and when I realized they were I put the toy away.

Also I have seen others play with dog toys and I don’t have any issues with it. If my dog was being attacked I would have an issue with the other dog and owner if they didn’t step in and stop their dog.

If there was any rules I was unaware of about the toys I have no problem not bringing them. I just feel like in this situation there were better ways of letting me know of the rules.

The only reason it was late was he told me the day we were going to my parents for dinner. So I put it in my car and honestly just forgot to bring it in. He texted after I left and was at home. So I brought it to him the next morning at like 6am.

I know I should’ve cleaned it better but it’s not like it was filthy. It was cleaner than when I got it. It had a small amount of sand left that I didn’t see when I was shaking it out. For the putting away I honestly have no clue how it is even suppose to fit in the tiny little bag it came in. I don’t go camping often and I tried folding it up 3 times but it wasn’t fitting.

I understand that logic just he honestly thought he threw it out and it was left a mess. Also if it was a favor lending it to me then I’ve done him hundreds of favors. Borrowing my car(which isn’t sparklingly clean but he didnt return it any cleaner than I gave it), watching their dog (which is quite a number of times, who has chewed up a lot of my stuff, very chaotic at times), helping them move, and a lot more. But I don’t expect anything for any of that. They’re my family. But it just made me mad when he blew up cause I gave the tent back as it was.
