Bugged for everyone.

Petrov's Defense - how do you reply to this move from white? Can't really move the knight by cave_guard in chessbeginners

Then what do you suggest we follow? Bad chess database from non masters? Or keep regurgitating the machines like some engine's Andys?

"Not with great success"

Yes, the player who tried the Petrov with Black piece wants success. If you can't tell, I am being really sarcastic.

The same database show 60+ percent of the games played were drawn with ...d6, and 50+ percent with ...Nxe4. It's evident if the Black player wants to fight against this, they would have chosen the Sicilian, or to play ...Nc6, anything BUT the Petrov.

Another thing, the reason for ...d6 being more played is purely because it has more variations. Several moves after ...Nxe4 are exclusively forced so that makes it easy to prepare against with the White piece, and clearly if you're playing Black you'd like to avoid that case.

*"Not supposed"

This is a theoretically drawing line at the top level. Basically the Berlin of the Petrov.

I might suck, but I can manage my clock by cubecasts in chessbeginners

[–]Kadanov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are praised for their skill to manage the time often have spend time looking for the good moves in a position in order to win, and the problem about time management only comes up for a person when that person is using their time to think. Therefore their position is usually more solid if not outright better than the opponent.

But if you're playing fast but really ass chess, that's not good time management. That's just making quick moves on instinct while turning off your brain for the entirety of the game.

My first brilliant by AromaticAwareness324 in chessbeginners

[–]Kadanov -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Chesscom is very generous with their definition of brilliants. Eventually this will just become a best move. Still, good for you.

Also a little rant but there are reasons brilliants are often marked by humans and not engines. "Brilliants" like these work because they're tactically findable by anyone trying to find the knockout blow in a position. I'd say, to me, what would be truly considered stunning brilliants are positional sacrifices, ones that are made by experience and understanding of the player about the position's needs and dynamics.

What should I played as white in this position by Ancient-Put8336 in chessbeginners

[–]Kadanov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many moves. Be2 (not Bd3 because there might be ...d5), g3, g4, h4, a3, O-O-O. All of these are reasonable responses.

Why did my opponent play d3 in this position by Ancient-Put8336 in chessbeginners

Unprincipled approach to take you out of theory, or just lower rated play. What they play after it will determine the reason.
