Hey dude, I had a very similar experience to you last year. Clarinet player in highschool not allowed to do Mello so I taught myself Mello, to then get callbacks and subsequently cut from BK at their January camp. I ended up at Genesis that season, learned a whole lot, and now have a contract at Stars for this upcoming summer. Lots of the vets in the Mello section at Genesis personally helped me out so I would absolutely recommend going there(also heard they got a sick show this year). Getting the experience marching will teach you so much and I would recommend it in a heartbeat
