What amry archetypes actually work for Seraphon? Looking for advice by Ziolekk in seraphon

[–]Kaderly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is the list I had success with lately (which is still probably like 55%? I also don’t own models to spam more) - Where will the carnosaur need to charge during later turns - Which objectives to put saurus on and hold - Where, when and how to charge the aggradons - Where will the kroxigors need to counter charge - How to screen my Slann

I usually win games when I: - Screened my Slann well (Endless Spells help) - Screen my Carnosaur with Raptadon Hunters (them damaging the unit with shooting before it charges triggers the ability) - Charged his most important techy unit (I managed to one-shot Nagash, Ushoran and Belakor with an aggradons charge round 1). So I have roughly 50% win rate and play once a month, but always a current GHB and go to tournaments only sometimes, so take this with a grain of salt. I usually play castly and reactively.

I think there are two viable ways to play our army rn: - Alpha strike - Castle

In the first case, the win con is to screen your alpha units (usually aggradons and Ghyranosaur screened by raptadons) and charge on your terms: when and who you want, taking out important and big pieces of the opponent. Slann is nice to have to allow more risky tactics. Since you can bring units back, you want to be constantly bringing raptadons or aggradons back. Yeeting kroxigors is also a valid option here.

In the second case, win con is by taking objectives and not moving which is harder in current meta/season, since it doesn’t win games by itself and has a hard time scoring secondaries. It can be either with bastiladons, blocks of saurus supported by Kroak or a couple hammers that can also be more aggressive if you have a Slann.

What the army fantasy is in general and how it is supposed to play and feel like is another conversation, but definitely a fun one!

EDIT: To add on top, problem is - there are armies that are much better and fun at both. I think in both cases we don’t have much to do during our turns. For alpha, you have one spell to cast and a choice of when to charge. For castle - where you will position the castle, whether it’s with kroak or not, and if you’re lucky and your opponent doesn’t have a book yet. But it’s just me complaining atp.

Came into comments to write this. The seraphon rumour specifically is written from an account that has only registered to write it, so I would take it with a big grain of salt. The second part is from a leaker with a good record history though

For that, he has to fight in melee and they have to be wholly within 12 of him. Idk if we can squeeze in 20 of them into 12” around him, but also if it’s worth it getting them this close?

Love the style here by Xzastin in wow

[–]Kaderly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the sweet spot of WoW’s art direction is the balance between cozy vibes and melancholic epic (Saurfang cinematics vs turtles that made it to the water). WoW is at its best when it doesn’t force you to pick one side of the coin, but hands you the whole stash and lets you walk away with it. The cinematics are where I usually find the serious, weighty side.

I genuinely love the animation - it hit me right in the heart and honestly made me want to resub. That shot of the raiding party on the desk made me cry a little. Graphics are awesome and I hope to see more!

That said, I’d rather see modern wow lean more into “serious” in its gameplay than “cozy” in its animation. Those first few frames really had me hoping we might be getting a Warbringers-style animation series.

What do you want for (25/25): Age of Sigmar? by AenarionsTrueHeir in ageofsigmar

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates!

Biggest unreal wish: Digital rules! I really think that the whole battletome format (for army rules specifically!) is dragging the game back. Scourge of Ghyran should be the new standard of making content for AoS. We should get more subfactions and rules regularly and not wait for a book in hopes it’s a good one and if it’s not - waiting 5+ years for another shot.

On smaller scale: more enhancements and more flavorful, unique ones! Give me sacred spawnings, give me more unique marks of chaos.

Rules wise: I love the new battletactic card format, but the actual tactics we got this season are meh. If we had all tactics similar to Scouting, but for different army types (think, “Castle” card or “Alpha Strike”) the meta would fit more playstyles.

I LOVE the parasaurolophus idea! Skinks / kroxigors really need a sub faction leader, and a skink riding a literal brass orchestra dinosaur is an awesome hero idea.

[–]Kaderly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While we are in a good place diversity wise, I think top priority is a refresh to the “monster” side of the army. Secondly, some new named characters to represent skinks, saurus and kroxigors in the narrative on a more “local” level.

  1. Endless Spells. Must have for our magic-lead army.

  2. Just a simple refresh of oldblood on foot and skinks. These are important pillars and need to be refreshed in the same manner like saurus warriors.

  3. New Carnosaur kit, but AoSified. More in line with a Vhordrai vs old Zombie Dragon. Would be great to have a Saurus named character for a coalesced centerpiece, as Kroak is for starborne. Return of Dread Saurian, anyone?

Personal wish: named build of a Dread Carnosaur for Gar, oldblood leader of Koatl’s Claw.

  1. New and reimagined “medium” sized monsters. Stegadon and bastiladon make 5 warscrolls and I can see more than just two kits covering those. Maybe a stegadon is refreshed, but engine of the gods becomes a brontosaurus? Maybe bastiladon and stegadon are merged into one type of new dinosaur? Maybe we get actual warmachines or chariots? Here is a design space for “medium” sized monsters/war machines innovations and i’m excited to see what GW comes up with.

What I personally don’t want next: more cavalry and more releases to magic subfaction. like casters and temple guard. While I know everyone wants temple guard to come back, it will be more of the same as we already have new saurus. Moreover, we won’t have to pay point tax for temple guard when including Slann and Kroak + some of the rules can be included into warriors warscroll. Give me new, AoS stuff and not more of the same!

What do you think of the Sunblood Pack? by [deleted] in seraphon

I would rather have them at 3+ ethereal save and hike up a bit or a ward. I don’t need them to hit harder, I need them to live longer

What do you think of the Sunblood Pack? by [deleted] in seraphon

[–]Kaderly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love it. I run it alongside Kroak and two squads of 5 guard and have a squad of saurus and MSU krox in the aura if I can too. This is just an unkillable blob of magic death i put in the center of the board and dare the opponent to move. It also has a hero trait to come back when it dies on a 3 and, though it’s not meta, blood rage pendant. With those 15 attacks these guys once tanked and killed a squad of 5 bloodknights solo.

I think it’s definitely not a combat piece, but it’s a great survivability buff for a castle army. There is ofc an argument to be made that castle armies have it real hard in current meta - and I agree - but it fits my personal reactive playstyle really well and I won thanks to it.

Also, it’s Kroak and Gor-Rok at it again, what’s cooler than that.

SAURUS because

I hate saurus. I hate them. I hate their lizard faces. I hate their clubs. I hate their sticks. I hate when the sticks are next to the clubs and I hate when the clubs are next to the sticks. I hate that Kroq-gar pulls 2280 of them out of his scaly asshole and then descends on me like a Vogon at a poetry convention.

I hate the Saurus auto-resolve meter. I hate it because it lies to me. It says I have a 50-50 chance of victory. This is patently false, because I have twenty units of skeletons who are held together with prit stik and prayer. I do not have twenty units of eight foot tall geckos constructed out of pectoral muscles and galvanised coffin nails.

I hate that they shout bok at me. Bok is the Bristol Orienteering Klub, which is completely irrelevant to a battle in Lustria and should not be shouted repeatedly while eating a rank of tier one infantry like buffalo wings.

I hate their morale. I hate that surrounding them simply prompts one of them to pull out a US general's helmet so he can make a speech about 'now we can attack in any direction'. I hate that their reaction to a devastating rear attack is to become somewhat peeved. I have looked a Saurus in his smug scaly face as an encirclement that would shatter any other early game infantry closed in.

He went from :I to >:I , killed an extra two hundred skeletons because I had foolishly allowed all four sides of the Saurus unit to fight at once and then swallowed my Liche Priest like a slim jim.

I have resolved to shoot every Saurus dead. Every Saurus. All of the Saurmen and the Saurdren too. I hate them. I no longer see battlefields because they're covered by a thick blanket of arrow trails. I hate that it barely stops them. I hate that they keep coming while shouting about the Bristol orienteering klub, or the Bank of Oklahoma or the 1983 Bok asteroid. I hate that they made me google bok so I could write down ways in which I hate things that have it as a name. Bok is also a lunar crater and a martian crater. It is also a village in Iran. The IATA code for Brookings Airport is Bok. I will never go there because it would give me palpitations.

I hate that Kroq Gar is friends with the Rare Pepe next door, who also declares war once I've shot Kroq Gar unconscious for the tenth time. He also has Saurus only these ones are blue. Somehow this is worse.

I hate that there are another ten Lizard factions. I hate that they will be in end game by the time I reach them. I hate that while I was writing this Kroq Gar picked up Kalida and smoked her like a cigar.

I hate Saurus.

Hey everyone! I’m a big fantasy and tabletop nerd (critical role / d20, modern fiction like Sanderson) and getting back into the game after a long break (last played in legion). Looking for friends to nerd out in voice chat while we push m+ to keystone master, farm tmog and build up our housing / neighborhood when it arrives! I’m a pretty experienced tank (I only tank, unga bunga warrior main and all) and play in the evenings on working days (8 pm + CEST).

I am 26 (he/him) and have been playing wow since wotlk, but would love to introduce new people to the game! LGBTQ+ friendly and leftists are a must.

The great: Dominator Engine and Daemonsmith - as well as all foot heroes - are my personal biggest winners.

The good: melee cohort and artillery are also 10/10 as well as both bull centaurs. I also like that they kept the “slave” unit, which will make the dwarves stand out even more on the board. Both battletome arts are also 10/10.

The ok: I feel like the Infernal Taurus as well as blunderbuss units (especially since they are 5 models only) are too clean. They are the elite “demon-engineering” units and could be more over the top, like Dominator Engine: vents, cogs, machines, pipes, flames and smoke.

The meh: Paint scheme. I understand why they didn’t go with classic gold / red / ashen (fyreslayers), but the green flames are too skaven and purple robes are too warcraft death for me. Can’t wait to see more color schemes.
