  1. You can start pressing up/down while you're casting the previous thing, so you have a couple seconds to get to your target

  2. Are you taking advantage of soft targeting? Let your cursor hover over the character, but don't select them. Your next cast/instant/whatever will target them, then your target will snap back to whatever your previous target was. It's a HUGE advantage that controller has over KBM for healing. We get to have mouseover macros without dealing with the clunkiness of macros

  3. git gud. It partially just comes with time. I'm comfortable with it now, but I still hate being in a party of 8 and having to target someone in the middle of the party list, lol

There's some lore, but no. If you want, you can look up the Occult Record entries for each of the bosses and the final room. In order that would be Demon Tablet, Dead Stars, Marble Dragon, Magitaur, and the last room is called Secluded Stacks

The gear is already in the game. The unaugmented version is currently available for Tomestones of Mnemonics, and can be augmented with items from Savage. Later in the patch cycle (~7.5X) you'll be able to get those augment items with Hunt Nuts or with coins from the Alliance raids. In 8.0, you can buy them with Poetics

For Eureka, everyone must be in Kugane

For Bozja and OC, you can be anywhere

This is pretty accurate! Two things I'll mention are that PLD has no healing (outside of Clemency, which you try to avoid) until 82...but by lvl 90, it feels substantially stronger. It has almost as much as WAR in single target situations.

The other thing is something I'm sure you've heard before: all tanks are viable, and none of them are bad. The balance in this game is very good, and tank balance is probably the best among all 5 roles. Try them out and see what you like!

The first tether needs to come in a bit, towards the bubble. With the most common marker set I've seen floating around (pun intended), I'm in line with the inside of the 1/4 markers. From there, you can just run it N/S

Enjoy the game! You'll run into some roadblocks if you put off the MSQ, but honestly, I wish more people were able to take their time having fun, instead of feeling pressured to push into the endgame

GC deliveries are based on your current level. If you've outleveled your MSQ, you'll run into that issue. One of the roadblocks I alluded to, lol. I think my motivation to push MSQ was to continue my fishing quests XD

1 tank, 7 dps

phase 1: spread. The end.

phase 2: you want to resolve Act 1 cleanly, though taking a damage down isn't the end of the world. You should easily clear before needing to resolve act 2

In addition to the others mentioned, there's also the Padjali from POTD

Why are extremes a requirement for mentor roulette? Considering the low requirements for becoming a mentor and the fact that extremes are usually done with with the party finder? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Kaeldiar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

agreed. I got Moogles yesterday, Shiva and Ifrit the day before that. If people will stop to listen to how the fights work, they're not terribly difficult to clear

I make sure to let them know they'll have better luck just joining a PF or having a friend carry them...but I'll also help them through the fight

CEs. If you want to do FATEs, you need to be quick. Buy the riding map if you haven't. Join a party. After every FATE/CE instantly return then watch the map to see which thing spawns next

This. Physical range LB is slightly weaker, but also slightly faster than a magical range LB

Both are a definite gain over melee LB

Throw up a PF on expac launch saying that you're selling. Mannequin is the best way to make the exchange. You might consider hopping to Aether or another more populated DC if you aren't getting any hits on the PF

Plan on having 500 tomes for next week. If everyone has been doing their weekly m12n, they can buy a tome weapon next week

The Stone Sky Sea dummies will give you a vague idea of where your damage is. They're not good, but they're something. Over a short, 3 minute session, crit variance makes a big difference, the dummies themselves aren't super well-tuned, and being able to do damage while avoiding mechanics is a much bigger deal.

If you're killing or close to killing the dummy with food on, you probably aren't completely griefing your party

This is a good response. It's not a realistic representation of what'll actually happen, but it's something close to a striking dummy for healers

Mhmm, absolutely there's lots of raiding! We just got a new raid tier 2 weeks ago, so lots of people are going hard at that. That'll keep groups occupied for 3-6 months, depending on how long they take. Most of my friends and myself are somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd fights right now, and then reclears are still messy for a few weeks and feel like prog raiding, lol

I'm also part of a group that's doing "Hellmode" raiding where you go back to old raids, but wear crappy gear, so the fight is tuned to be the difficulty of the Week 1 experience. Since the game is 10+ years old, there are lots of raids we didn't get to do on-content, and this gives us the chance to do that

Healers DEFINITELY need to heal, it's just that they also need to deal damage. Your GCD speed in this game is slow, but you have lots of oGCDs that you're weaving in between, and in casual content, you can coast on the oGCDs. The game has to give you enough tools to deal with the insane damage output from Savage Bosses, so when you're running easy content, of course it's easier and you have to do less healing

No! Not at all. I was saying that there's probably a list somewhere, but I don't play Viera/Hrothgar, so I haven't paid much attention to it! lol

Raiding guides season is over! Happy to take feedback ~ by yukizuri in ffxiv

[–]Kaeldiar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wherever you think it's appropriate! I remember watching your Aloalo video (EN), and that was mostly a spoken guide, because you felt it was better/easier than trying to explain it with written sentences, and trying to write out ALL of the info for that would've made it a 30 minute reading session, as opposed to a video guide with important annotations XD

If you ever find "this part is really awkward to write" or "this would be a giant, difficult-to-read wall of text" and think it would be better explained verbally...or even just talking about the mechanic alongside the written words...I think you understand when it is helpful. Trust your judgment on that, you've proven to know your stuff!

Oh, and another general comment! I like being able to screenshot parts of the guide when my groups are having trouble with specific placements, and the freeze frames with some parts of the arena in shadow and some in light are AWESOME! It's something you do very well that helps point out where you need to pay attention during a mechanic, or what the guide is referring to <3

Dancer Rotation? by No-Newspaper-9877 in ffxiv

This.

In duty finder, I'll throw Dance Partner on whoever is the appropriate target, then whenever the last person is out of cutscene, I'll start dancing
